Brakes
Brakes
Just installed some Brembo cross drilled/slotted rotors on the front and rear of my 99TL, along with EBC green stuff pads front and rear, however since installation ive noticed some brake dust on my wheels, along with the front pulsation a lil bit, i dont get it? is this the brake in? give me some words of wisdom guys, thanks!
Brake dust is normal. Brembo rotors dont come cross drilled and slotted so I am guessing someone did the work themselves and sold them on eBay. That would explain the pulsation.
The factory front rotors are already vented. The additional slotting helps reduce fade but when you also start drilling holes it is getting to the point of overkill and weakening the rotor. You are also reducing the surface area and reducing braking power. The reason it is harder to find factory drilled rotor these days is because slotting is more effective and less likely to lead to cracking.
If the slotting and drilling isnt done properly it can lead to cracking, imbalance, etc. The best suggestion I can give is that you only buy parts from a reputable manufacturer. Owning a drill press doesnt make anyone qualified to manufacture brake rotors.
