Brake Question
Hey guys my car is due to get some new brakes now i was thinking except getting the original stock braking system i thought it would be a good time to put some better brakes now my question is since our cars are front wheel drive is it important or dangerous to just change the front brakes and keep the back brakes stock ? or is it something you should change as a whole
please let me know guys thanks ?
BTW these are the brakes im thinking of putting in http://store.excelerateperformance.c.../i-107458.aspx
thanks again guys

If I am not mistaken, when the brakes are applied the majority of the stopping power comes front the front brakes. Of course inspect both the front and rear set.
I would also recommend stainless steel lines also. I've read members saying this has dramatically removed the "spongy" feel in our brakes.

Ya i knew about that how the front brakes do majority of the braking thats why im wondering my back brakes were basically brand new when i bought the car about 8 K kilometers ago so i dont believe they will need change but im just wondering if i just change the front one to those better brakes will it be catastrophic or should i not worrie
thanks for the help
thanks for the help
i was actually in the same situation as you were. my rear rotors and pads were almost new when i bought the car but my fronts were shot to shit. i upgraded to EBC Blackdash rotors and EBC Yellowstuff pads (I ordered Redstuff but it was backordered so they sent Yellowstuff instead at no extra charge). i recommend www.placeforbrakes.com and use their 12% off EBC coupon.
a little tidbit on the Yellowstuffs. now that they are fully bedded in they are simply AMAZING. so much stopping power the G's will rip your face off...well almost haha. they squeal like crazy though and from what ive heard, they will for the next 200-300 miles. kinda embarrassing but its worth it in the end. only other negative is the massive amounts of brake dust, though it is hard to notice on the 2G type S rims.

ya i am trying to turn it into a little bit of a track car not like complete hardcore i still wanna use it a bit on the road but i definetly wanna start getting to the track and my buddy who does go there a lot has a genesis and he says that those bremboes are sick but what would you suggest i get ?
and also i can change my front brakes and not the rear ones and be fine due to our front wheel drive ?

Front wheel drive or rear wheel drive has nothing to do with it. Braking power is higher in the front no matter what wheels are powered. Its best to use a similar pad on both ends (meaning dont use a 12 dollar pad on the rear and race pads on the front) if they are oe replacements you will be fine.

so if i dont want to spend that huge amount of money on the brembo brakes would i get new and better braking power if i change the rotors and pads would i get better braking power already ?
just get a good aftermarket upgrade ALLROUND, like EBC brakes about $500. NSX or legend calibers are also good to put on with the aftermarket brakes. but putting on $2700 front brakes and leaving the rears stock is very foolish, and very uneven.
also if your into serious braking you should get (if you havent already) a suspension upgrade to counter act noise dive, which in turn will make more use of your rear brakes. and stop much more evenly and faster.
like 03tLsNBP said, EBC brakes take a while to bed in and make some noise at first, but they will rip your face off. i know.

im getting new suspension before my brakes but im thinking to start off with my brakes im going to get new rotors and new pads first and then get a good set of calipers do you think that would be a good start up for my braking performance ??? will they make some difference do you think let me know if you know thanks a lot for the info
only calipers you can get that are bolt on are Legend 2 piston, or NSX. You can get the legend calipers for about 60 bucks each remanufactured. (id suggest using the search button for more info on it)
If you are looking at a BBK then i wouldnt waste my money on rotors and pads as they will come with the kit and what you buy before hand wont work with a BBK.

you said your getting stoptech sportstop rotors and some hawk performance street Z compound brake pads. those are pretty good brakes, enjoy them.
what do you mean by doing this right?
there really isnt a right or wrong way of doing this, there are many aftermarket brakes to choose from all with good stopping power and a million times better than stock, as long as you dont mix and match different parts that are not made for each other you cant really screw this up. just make sure you follow "bed in" procedure exactly to the manufactures specs and installation (check for run out), to avoid warpage and prolong the life of the brakes.

sweet, do those hps pads outperform ceramics pads? i hear a lot of good stuff about hawk, i am interested in them. i love my EBC red stuff ceramic pads, very powerful even when wet. The special dimple and slot design on the rotors helps the pads out too with a constant sweeping motion.
