Battery replacement

Hi All,
This is my first posting. I'm a proud owner of Acura 3.2TL (2001) model. My car battery is getting drained out and would like to replace it. Can any of you guys suggest me the recommended brand and where to replace it (Cheaper places). I live in San Jose, CA.

Any urgent inputs would be of great help !!

Thanks
Arv

Optima Redtop will do the job perfect if you don't have a system... if you do go for the Yellowtop more costly than OEM battery but from what i've heard def worth it.

Costco Battery

I recently changed my battery. The dealership said the charge was marginal and wanted over $100 for a new one. While at costco, I saw their batteries and their explanation that the KIRKLANDS were made of the same type of components as the DIEHARD GOLD. I bought one for $38.99 and installed it myself. At this price, I figure if I get three years worth, it is fine. So far, so good.

and the warranty for the costco battery beats most other places.... I think it's a 36 month free replacement. I'm thinking of buying a battery there too but do they take our old one for disposal?

Battery Disposal

Take the used battery to any Sears auto center. Carry the battery to the garage area and give it to the mechanic. Tell them that you are returning a used battery.

can you use a optima red top battery if you have a system (2 12" Phoenix Gold subs with a 2-channel phoenix gold amp) in your car, or just spend the extra money and get a optima yellow top?

It's not that much more (spread across 3-4 years), plus it's a deep cycle battery. It'll help if you accidentally leave your stuff on, plus it can withstand more discharges. I don't have a system and I got the yellow-top for the hell of it. I figure for the life of the car, you'll probably change the battery twice...so why not just go with the best for a few $$$ more.

Probable a dumb question but- Anything special you need to do when you replace the battery or do you just take it out and put in the new one and reset the clock and radio stations??? Thanks

That's it. Just make sure you jot down the codes and the radio stations before removing the battery.

Thanks that's what I thought but haven't had a car with so much "electronics" before and didn't want to screw something up.

If you dont have a need for more power and you are buying an optima battery, buy a red top. They dont have the same problems that the yellowtops do, like dieing after a year.
