Anyone considering CAI...

If anyone is considering CAI you should know I am thoroughly pleased with my INJEN Race Division CAI. I am impressed with gains and the sound is amazing. The install is fairly easy especially if you are mechanically inclined and took me about an hourand a half of work after i figured out how to get the front bumper off. When the engine is cold in the morning the normal "hissing" occurs but passes once it is warmed up. When I punch it now i can't stop smiling but the best is after vtec kicks in, the sound is awesome!!! I raced my friend's '06 TL before i did the mod so i would have an idea of the gains. He used to pull away a little mostly due to him having the 6-speed but now he is the one trying to keep up! He rode with me last night and is now going to get his own. haha! Anyone considering CAI should definately look at the INJEN. Here is a pic...

Next week I should have my Tein's, pulleys, rotors, pads, headers, and exhaust finished so more pics to follow!

I have the same CAI...it's great and I love the sound etc, but after a while, that huming sound that it makes while idling will drive you crazy...i have actually thought about going back to OEM or an icebox since they are supposed to be more quiet. Looks good though!

ya that sucking noise gets annoying when it over powers everything else you have done to your car. but yet it sounds so nice its worth it.

Stereo? What's that?
I also think that the intake suck noise is poop. You don't let your vaccuum cleaner run all day long in your house. Do you?

ICEBOX.

I don't think the noise is that noticable. It does sound different than a stock set-up, but when at idle, there is just some hissing noise, not really noticable unless you are listening for it. It is most noticable at full throttle, and when you turn the car off it makes a funny noise also. I don't know much about the ice box, but if you want something that looks good under the hood, go with the Injen.

I disagree. There is a noticable difference in sound between the factory intake and an aftermarket cold air intake. When I started the TL for the first time with an intake on.... everyone in my shop said... "What the F#@K?!?" "Sounds like a gian VACCUUM. Ha Ha."

And that was motivation enough to take it off.

But then again... Some people love the way a HUGE fin on their trunk lid looks. And some people insist that blue headlights are the shiznit.

To each their own.

There is definitely a humming noise but it sounds like when you have the AC on. It's not that big of a deal. As soon as you get going though the noise goes away. I was worried about that shit too. Unitl I put an SRI on mine and it's not that bad.

Now I'm wondering if the Type-S has more volume than a TL-P.

Most of the TL-P owners are claiming "no biggie".

But all the Type-S owners are saying "too much noise".

I had a 3.0CL before the TL-S. The CL had very little intake rukus. Probably similar to a TL-P.

What do you all think about that?

Well, the S has a bigger throttle body, that could have something to do with it.

I just put the Comptech Icebox on today. It's quiet! No more vaccuum cleaner sounds!! I like. I don't notice much of any horsepower gain over my previous setup. But the torque gain is quite noticable.

A standard CAI is complete opposite of the Icebox. The CAI was an attention grabber at full throttle.

If had had to pick a CAI for any car I would definately buy from Injen.
