after short ram install problem
After installing a short ram intake on my 00 TL, it wont pass a certain rpm. At first, it would only rev to 3k and stutter and stay at 3 k going no further. After turning off and turning on again, it stutters at 5k, going no further. On the freeway, as soon as it hits 5k rpm it drops. I've also cleaned the throttle body when i installed, using throttle body cleaner. What might be the problem here? I also got check engine light, which has disappeared as of now when i plugged out the backup clock fuse.

Hmmm...well i never had this problem. But then again i had a shop do mine & i had exhaust installed (which may i add, sounds awesome !, you should get it too). But i think your ECU sense that it's taking in more/less air than stock so it's stopping you from reaching 6k(limp mode). i would recommend to reset your ECU and see how it goes

I didnt take the throttle body out, i just put a rag under and sprayed it with throttle body cleaner then used a toothbrush to get in there, and then i wiped it down good with a rag.

Go out and make sure EVERY thing is plugged in. Installation of the CAI shouldn't cause this. something got disconnected. Did you unplug anything? or any hoses?

Testing for vac leaks:
spray carb cleaner at hose connections and tb to manifold- air flow tube to tb.
if rpm changes you found the point of leak
Hooked the pcv sytem into the new cai? other vac lines connected
Ck master vac port presure with vac guage- should be 20+
the clock fuse IS the secret backup power to the ecu and will force a master reset and relearn
are you getting vtec engagement on freeway? the connector for that has gotten left disconnected before
what else did you do at install== any other work?
seafoam?

assclown- I have to ask- soapy water is for locating `pressure out leaks` in most uses--how is it finding vac leaks???
I dont want soapy water going into my engine--regardless of its steam cleaning abilties!

I would just disconnect everything and start over. It doesn't take long to begin with. Check your hoses while they are off. Get new ones.. They are about 3 bucks or less. Disconnect the battery. Has to be something minor.

Do you have a CEL? If not resetting the ECU will not do any thing. Vtec connector is down by the oil filter. Go back and double check your connections. Make sure they are all connected and that you didnt miss anything. The vac and coolant lines, did you take any off the TB
