AEM or Injen?

I currently have the Comptech Icebox but I am wanting a new cold air system with better looks and sound. Which would give me close to the same gains with sound and looks? If AEM what color is best looking?

the AEM sounds awesome. you won't be disappointed. it has a raw, loud sound when you hit vtec. sounds like the rage of 1000 japanese sumo wrestlers finding out that the sizzler ran out of food.

aem does not make a v2 for the type-s. I think the AEM has larger tubing on the TL but not noticable difference. The Injen seems like it would be better for the foglight situation.

Just out of curiosity, when you installed the Comptech icebox, did you have to remove the bumper cover or could you get at everything by removing the plastic panel underneath ?

i didn't have to remove anything. i had an AEM and i was able to remove the lower piece by going underneath the car and wrestling it out. then the icebox went right in. no issues. it might be a tad easier to remove the bumber if you're removing a stock intake setup but i personally haven't had any experience with this.

dont be afraid to take the bumper off. its extremely easy to take off and put back on. just dont break the push tabs or you will have to go to the store to get more.

I had an AEM and went to injen. The mounting on the injen is in a better spot than the AEM. I also had issues with my AEM because it was a little to long. It would hit the back of the foglights when I put it on so I had to shave of a couple inches. Some people have had that problem and some haven't. I think the Injen is a better looking intake and the polished looks the best IMO. Same color as the body looks a little odd to me, but it's all on what you like best. I do think certain parts of the engine bay look good the same color as the car, just not the intake. I would go with Injen, but that's my opinion. You could talk to Excelerate. I think he sells both intakes but I know he sells the Injen for sure. That's where I bought mine from.

I've been running an Injen for about 6 months now....absolutely love it....I've rode in a TL-S just like mine with an AEM an not only did it not sound as mean at VTEC, but it seemed to not pick up as fast as my TL-S....

I didnt have the whole AEM fitting issue. But i'm probably not the person to ask. I got intake and comptech exhaust at the same time, so except for that first minute where I turn on the car, I never really hear my intake. My AEM is blue, it looks good, but I think I wouldve gone to injen if I hadn't gotten such a great deal on my AEM. Not that big of a difference for the 100 dollars off I got!

It's all personal preference as far as it goes. I bought the AEM v2 because I got a great deal from a member on here, but they both produce similar numbers and sound similar.

the comptech isnt in too great of shape..the horn is shaved and one of the studs on the airbox striped...that is the reason i got another one due to not being able to clean my filter

Does this mean the icebox gives the most horsepower gains? There seems to be conflicting numbers out there.
