AEM CAI off a damaged car

I got my hands on a AEM CAI from a 00 TL-p I bought for parts for my 00 TL-p. Here is the pics. Other then some scratches, minor dents and the coupler that holds the 2 parts together has broken off. Is it worth it to re-purpose it? Does anyone know how much that coupler is?

Just buy a new harmonic damper (the thing that holds them together) and your set!

Really? Cool...thanks for naming the part I need as well. I was looking to get the AEM V2s before too. Stupid question but what is the difference in performance of the two? I tried to do a search and see alot of ppl recommending the V2. Also will the small dimple dents cause any issues?

no. the part that broke off that holds the intake together is called Aem (brand) AIR BYPASS VALVE....its basically a second filtery thing to prevent water from reaching the engine and causing dammage...offcourse that wont be true if you submerge your car on a 3ft puddle

InJen makes one too and is called something anti Hydrolocking valve or something. You can also simply buy a 2.5" coupler from any auto parts store, AEM, INJEN or watever it may be and not spend $50 on the bypass valve. just be more carefull what you drive thru

No, from a 00 tl that was in an accident. Since I have an 00 tl, I bought it off the owner with the thought to use it for parts. The tranny is functional too! so I lucked out which is a good thing as mine is slowing going.

dents will not cause any issues. just be sure you have the rubber mounts because vibration will break the mounting bracket

Actually, I bought the whole car off him and it came with it. The air filter was all bent as there was front end damage to the car. I have pics posted on the black market section.

Lets just say, the owner did not want to go through insurance (due to his personal reasons) and needed to atleast cut his loses. I needed a tranny, got my mechanic to check it out as well as the engine, it had a WW kit (damaged) and tokico shocks and mint interior and doors. It was a fair deal for both parties and was cheaper than a rebuilt tranny I was going to pay(as I have passed my warranty period by 43,000kms) as my tranny is slowly going.

So it looks like a hybrid intake according to the the AEM page. Is your setup loud?

yeah sorta since it is 2 pieces, but the difference is mine used to be 1 piece till it was cut to fit a bypass valve. I bought mine from a member on here "SatinSilverTypeS". Oh yea that shit is loud, you better believe it. once Vtec hits it gets even louder. if you dont believe me just find a guy cruising around 30mph with his window down and sit in his blind spot, when he least expects it drop it into 1st, stomp on the gas and see what happens lol

Yeah the AEM intake is loud. its louder than my WSII's. haha. but a word of advice dont tighten down the bracket too much. mines broke the bracket already. crap. im not sure how in the hell world im going to get that fixed. maybe some JB weld haha. ghetto rig. but im happy with my intake. im thinking of going with a ice box next if i can find one for a decent price. well see. but the aem intake is great. good sound. very LOUD!!!

Got my by pass valve and ready to put this on now that the spring is here. Can anyone tell me what exactly I need to finish this off . With the attached pic there are rubber hoses and smaller claps that come with the kit. I'll need the descriptions or sizes as I'll need to explain what I need as I am going to home depot to get the stuff. Also does anyone know the part # for KN filter to get with this CAI. I did a search and didnt find much. Thanks in advance
