Add Mpg and Hp to 00' TL

In november i will be getting my dad's 2000 tl non-sport. I was wondering what are the best aftermarket products for that. I will be getting a K&N air filter for it for starters. I dont know what else to get. Also it doesnt come with the roof racks, is there a way to carry a surfboard with this car with aftermarket roofracks? Does that even exist? This will be my first car and i am a novice at this stuff.. for now.

The things i will be getting

http://shop.autoanything.com/air-filters/kn-air-filters
http://www.autoanything.com/ignition...A5363A0A0.aspx

What else do i need?
Thanks!

Intake is a good start but headers are the best thing you can do to the car

You would probably have better luck with ngk spark plugs. I've never heard of the pulsars so i may be wrong. But i know alt of people on here, people i know personaly, and even the factory recommend the ngk.

Don't use snake oil plugs in your TL. Good ole NGK iridium is exactly what it needs.

IMO mods to help gain MPG aren't worth getting if you want to get more MPG.
If you really want mods do a CAI, headers, pulleys, wider wheels, etc.

check out XLR8 performance, enone of our vdors, theyre is a sale thread right now

Although a little late on the thread be careful to use the right plugs. I blew some coils out due to improper resistance on the plugs I bought the car with, and the coils aren't cheap. I now have NGK Iridium plugs.
