2002-TL Spark Plugs

Any suggestions on the best plugs or equivalent to the recommended NGK plugs below? They're $12-16 each!

Spark Plug PZFR6E-11 NGK

Thanks!

the OEM plug is a double platinum so it's pretty expensive

you can try the single platinmum which is 5 bucks cheaper and same good performance, but u would want to change it sooner for best results

get iridium's they create a stronger spark from what I've read and the NGK's are cheaper than the platinums.

Or just spend the money on the oem plugs because they are rated for 100k miles and be done with it for another 100k

Thanks

Thanks all for your suggestions. Decided to get the OEM.

BTW, do you also change the wires? Some say they're a lifetime product. If so, what wire is the best?
Thanks again,
jay

We don't have plug wires. We have a distributorless ignition. If you look under the hood you'll notice the 3 coil packs (black square things below the intake manifold. Those are what replaces the traditional distributor/plug wires. There are 3 more on the back side of the engine. You definitely don't need to replace them unless they go bad.

I'm due for plug changes now, a lil over 100k, so what i understand is that i don't need to worry about the coils? if I just change out the plugs I'm good? I'm gonna DI-myself, so should I waste money on coils?

You don't need the coils unless they are bad.

In changing the spark plugs, is there a need to change the gaps or you just plug it in?

ALWAYS check the gap. One plug may fit many cars with different gaps.

Just changed the plugs. A couple of things:

1) The three rear plugs are kind of hard to get at especially if you have large hands. You'll need to remove/unscrew 2 brackets to gain easier access to the plugs.

2) Check the spark plug gaps. Should be 0.04 in or so. The PZFR6E-11 NGK were set at 0.04 in, but should check jsut to make sure.
