2000 TL-P radio help

I was just wondering...can you put like a 2003 TL radio in the 2000 TL...mine isnt playing CDR's (no not cdrw's...and not mp3..just regular audio cds). Some people say that the 2000 radio can only play original cds..is this true?. My friend had a 2003 and it's a 6 cd changer...the one in the 2000 only has 1 disc #%#$. (thats why i wanna change it =P

and...Since the radio is so big...if i take it out completely...and use one of those CD/Mp3 things from like pioneer or sony..how will i fill in the gap because the stock radio is so much bigger?

Yes but you cannot put a CL radio in a TL (different amp/speaker setup)

Thought this might help you.

I'm not sure if this will work for everyone but it did for me. I have a 2001 TL-P with the standard Bose system, single disc. I tried burning discs many different ways but to no avail.

I've now been able to burn a ton of discs and listen to them all without any problem.
I changed three things at the same time so I'm not sure if one or all of them helped.
- I bought TDK Music 80min CD-R's from Costco
- burnt at 4x write speed
- I added 2 seconds between each song, an option you can easily add on Roxio

Other things I did or used:
- LG DVD Burner
- Roxio EZ CD Creator
- Disc at Once - DAO

The fact that I couldn't play CD-Rs on my stereo was going to make me spend hundreds of dollars but this seems to have worked. Hope it works for you.

Thx Bkzjimmy...thats the spacer thing right?...well i'm having seconds thoughts about putting in a aftermarket radio in there...i'm scared someone might break in and steal it (yep thats nyc for you) I guess i would feel more comfortable w/ regular bose thing. I'm goin to try burning cds at lower speeds first..and if that dosnt work i might just have to buy the 2003 bose cd changer

That hitch on that burning idea working is definitely the TDK music cd's. I tried normal tdk and no luck. For whatever reason these cd's work. Bought 60 more today.

I put a link on my first post in this thread, click on it to take you to the exact ones I bought. I've tried many TDK's and the only ones that worked were these ones.

I also have a 2000 tl. I changed out my factory radio and put in a total Alpine Type-S system with Alpine amp and subs. You just have to find the right person to do the installation, because you have to bypass the factory bose amp. You have also have to buy the necessary wire harnesses. It is all possible though.

The tdk's never worked for me. the only thing i could knda get to work in my car was teh Verbatum blues.

The best thing i ever did was replace teh HU with a aftermarket HU.

Your other option is a trunk mounted CD Changer

because i live in the city [people are always on the prowl =(....]...i will have to pass on the aftermarket players. I dont want to spend a few hundred bucks on replacing the broken glass, window tint andddd another aftermarket player to replace the stolen one (my friend had his player stolen 3x from his civic)....i cant even blast my music where i park or people will hear the subwoofer in the trunk. i'm currently using one of those stupid tape things that lets me play music from my palm =(. too busy to pick up the tdk music cds...i'll try it after my midterms. doozerr..i'll let you know if the CD's work later on.

i live in brooklyn and i was never worried when i had the flip-out in, then i take it out and give it to my friend that owns a 03 mustang and they broke his window 3 days later and took the flip-out and his hydrolic for his convertable top

well he didnt have dark tint like i do (%20) so people cant see in.

Why live in fear like that?? there are many members that have alot of mods that live in nyc that dont have issues. Just dont go advertising to everyone as you drive down the street, HEY LISTEN TO MY STEREO.

also if it has a faceplate remove it. makes it less desireable.

omg..should i even try buying the music CD's? I stuck a original CD in there..and it spit it back out...Whats causing this problem..is the lens busted or something..and i no longer have the option of using CD's anymore?

I would try cleaning the lens. If that doesn't work I would take it in for repair. If that doesn't work I would think about investing in an after market system.
