Depends on your budget and the price of the engine vs new crank.

I would get new for peace of mind but if you're engine is toast, get the 3.5 and rebuild that or swap blocks or something.

Sounds good. Funny thing is I'm building my D-series in my Civic while the TL is more of a grocery getter...for now.

But hurry up quick because J's are becoming a craze ever since Honda Tuning came out.

I forsee many J's in Civics and Integras now. Alot of guys that were into the K's are now ditching the K's and getting J's.

Nice setup. Why? Because it's underrated and everyone hates on it. Just imagine an econo engine keeping up with most cars today. I love the look of people with swaps when they see what I have under hood. Believe me it's not that bad and it's pretty much a cheaper alternative as well.

Besides I run Autox and roadrace with it. Don't want to swap and change class and get my ass whooped in a modified status.

You will be fine from a J35A1 block out of a pre-'01 Odyssey and use Type S heads but make sure you change the pistons to CL-S or RL's.

You could get a whole motor out of a J35A4 out of a '02-'04 Odyssey or or '03-'04 Pilot.

There are several Type-S Auto motors here going for $700+shipping.

So, if i understand this right.
A J32a2 heads (from a Acura TL 03) will fit a J35a1 block (from a 00 honda Odyssey).....with no mods?

Sorry to bring a dead topic back.

Yes. And you can add 05 RL pistons for higher compression

What about the cam gears?
I was told that the Honda pilot has the best cams.
Is that true?
