03 TL Type S Inter. balck wooden moldings chg

hey, does anyone know how to take out the black wooden moldings and if possible can they be done to brushed metal finish

does any one know if they are painted or there some sort of decal on them

i guess there is a decal under that hard plastic clearcoat. the wood grain on the door panels are not as simple to take off. you have to take off the door panel and drill out the plastic rivets. there is a DIY in the DIY section. Def not too hard to do though. i took mine out and painted them SSM.

careful though. my drill bit caught once and went right through the wood grain. nothing some plaster and wood putty cant fix. hole doesnt show through the paint i put on.

Also remember you cant buy the door pieces so what ever you plan it going to require doing something to yours like wrapping in vinyl or painting then putting back on.

sanded panels with 600 grit
2 coats of dupli color adhesion promoter
3 coats of dupli color sandable primer
4 coats of dupli color Perfect Match (Satin Silver Metallic)
4 coats of gloss clear coat

i really took my time with it. i might have even put on too much paint cus i know theres a limit. maybe some other members can chime in on that.

I did mine using that above DYI in silver .

1 600 sand paper to remove the gloss.
1 heavy coat of gray sandable primer.(to cover small scratches)
2 coats of silver paint
1 clear coat
2 High gloss coat.
