03 tl 0-60

I am first owner of an 03 TL with 70k miles and it still has many of the original parts like the michelin tires and 16" wheels and stock brakes. Recently I have started driving this car again as a winter car and Im having a lot of fun with it. Aside from total lack of traction in first gear and somewhat rough ride over road cracks and gaps its a fine vehicle and its still in great shape. Just wondering what your 0-60 times are. i actually recently did a 0-120 pull and it felt great (if you gateshift). if you dont gateshift i noticed it hits 4th gear with literarly no torque. also how long can i expect my transmission to last?

About 15 minutes, if you take into account the glass transmission and the way you like to drive

Borrowed time likely. 3 Options - drive it till it breaks and walk away, drive it till it breaks and replace the tranny, sell now and move on. Probably depends on what you could get for the car.

At this point (13 years) you should replace the timing belt if it hasn't been done before and soon there will be other expenses like engine mounts.

Who knows. You can't put a time on it. My TL-S was on it's 2nd I believe. I have no idea what the previous owner did. Although, I loved the car and I could have bought another one, the transmission issues kept me away.

Answering your 0 to 60 question.. You can expect all stock:

TL/p - Around 7/7.5 seconds
TL/S - Around 6/6.5 seconds

My last 0 to 60 with all Bolt Ons was about 5.6 seconds which was entirely traction limited because I am still running stock tire sized.

There is no point in modding a stock J32A1.. Your best and cheapest bet would be to get an MDX engine J35A3. That will add a biblical amount of HP and Torque, Some TL-S cams and you are burning all the way to 3rd...

I highly recommend getting the Muffler Delete but bear in mind you got no Mid Muffler as opposed to the TL-S Mid Muffler so you can get a little louder than mine:

I wanna say that the tls had a resonator while the tlp didn't. But I'm not exactly sure. So correct me if I'm wrong

Yes the TL-S has CAT > Res > Mid Muffler > Mufflers
So the TL-p has CAT > Mid Muffler > Mufflers

Why do you spin so much in 1st gear, especially since it is stock? Is it a manual?

i have a tl-p with a few mods, and it is actually hard to spin from a dig xD

Well it really all depends on a few factors. First is the tires. I know when I first my tlp I had yokahomas and I could spin all the way through first and a little bit in second. I also didn't grip when it came to the rain and the under steer was terrible. With my current tires (Goodyear) I get really good traction. Unless it's really cold and the rubber hasn't warmed up then I can spin in second.

I see your 0-60 runs and raise you a 100 - 148, 149ish run.

I wouldn't advise attempting this unless you have upgraded brakes, upgraded suspension, and I would also recommend removing the power steering pump belt, not for the like 1 to 2hp gain, but because it makes the car a lot less jumpy or nervous at these speeds. believe it or not, you want the car to be less responsive to input from the steering wheel at these speeds. I'll put it to you this way; if you're thinking about trying this anywhere you would potentially have to make a sudden lane change, don't do it. If your thinking about trying this somewhere that you couldn't pretty much coast to a stop after hitting these speeds, don't do it.
