Xenon light turns dark pink, then bright purple, now flickers
One of my headlights went pink, like a very rich, dark pinkish orange color. After a couple days of driving like that I turned it on and noticed it was bright again but with a purple tint to it (not the same color as the other light).
I took it in for service and passed on replacing it because of the price (for now, until it dies.) But on the way home it started flickering like a strobe light for a minute or two then turning off completely. Turning the lights on and off again would reset this process.
Anyone know what the problem is? I thought pink meant it was dying but it seemed like it was coming back to life again only to be flickering off later on.

So it returning to a brighter color doesn't mean it wasn't dying in the first place? I was hoping there was some sort of connection issue inside. Acura wrote on the service invoice that the headlights were out of alignment probably due to the accident it was in sometime before I got it. Not sure if that has anything to do with it...
Also where can I get cheaper ones than from the dealer, that work with my car ('03)? Acura is quoting me ~$200 CDN.

xenon bulbs do that when they start dying. you can buy a good set on ebay for about $100, go for brand name stuff like phillips or osram. shoudl last u the life of ur car at this point.

stock color rating on the bulb is 4300k (kelvin)
some people go to 5000k for more blue- that picks out road lines and marking better
or 6000k which loses some white on the road but adds more blue
Good for drivers with poor night vision (IMO)
check with our vendor Excelerate for Kaixen bulbs- high quality and 110 bucks usa per PAIR, not the200 per bulb the dealer said
Yes you need a pair- one goes the other follows, and the output and color will be way different between new and old

I should mention that I'm in Canada and buying from the US usually adds a lot to the shipping price and delivery time, if websites even let me order from them.
Will I have to realign the headlights after replacing them? They are already out of alignment too.. this I've never done. According to the forums, on newer models theres just a place where i shove in a screw driver and twist to realign... does the same go for the '03?

the bulbs go in from the back of the housing and wont affect the aiming
Did you lower the car? is that why the aim is off?
its easy to adjust -follow the plastic V down the back of the housing till you see a gear, use a + screwdriver as a cam gear to rotate the main adjuster
Check local parts houses for bulbs then- you have been given the right numbers and names to ask for- see if the total comes out better shipping or local
remember HID bulbs must be replaced in pairs
and wear rubber/latex gloves when handling bulbs-oil from fingers create a hot spot and lessen the bulb life

when it turns that color it means ur car is turning>:theghey:..lol..j/k...change it to 5K and be happy with them...the adjusting thing is a breeze..like u said theres a socket looking screw back there and jus twist it up or down whatever it needs...remember passenger has to be a lil higher than the driver side...park in a dark area by a building or something and u will be able to see ur aiming better...

I could have sworn it was my lowbeams that were wayyy off aim. Are they adjustable or were they actually talking about the main ones? (Lowbeams are the regular halogen ones right? Just making sure I don't nub this place up even more :P) My right one seems to aim a lot higher than the left.

Car is stock, hasn't been lowered... but has been in one accident (drivers side somewhere).
Yes passenger side I meant. I only really notice it when I'm parking up by my garage and turn off the xenon's.

alrite cool..then thats the way it should be...the passenger side should be slightly higher to help u see the road lines and markers and the driver side lower so u can still see but u dont blind the oncoming traffic...

Ah I think there's some confusion since I'm canadian... I've been calling the high beams the low beams because they are the daytime running lights, which I don't think you americans have. I'm talking about the little halogen ones that sit next to the xenon's.

Ok it all makes sense now! I parked about maybe 14 feet from my garage door and the passenger side was aimed at the ground and the drivers side was aimed about directly straight out of the car, like if i stood at the door it would be beaming me in the chest. Probably not a good thing.
Not sure what the angle is supposed to be though...
