Question WTF is wrong with my car

I have an 02 Tl base model no engine mods at the moment. This is my first car my dad owned it before me (unfortunatly) he doesn't really take car of stuff he back into a fire hydrant hit a cinder block and took off the oil pan etc. But the car has a re-built tranny in it no idea if that makes a difference. But when I come to a stop sometimes the car idles really roughly then only way to counter act it is to pop it into neutral and give it some gas i watch the rpm meter and it nearly hits 0 when the car is doing it but it used to only happen when the engine was cold like in the early morning but now it happens all the time i was driving the other day and came to a stop at a stop light and it started doing it but before i could pop it into neutral it dropped to low and the car shut off and i couldnt get it to turn over eventually it did but i dont need a car that turns off every time i come to a stop. addmittedly since I am a teenager I am not always kind to the gas pedal but i take real good care of this car and it did this when my dad owned the car to it started just before the tranny went the first time and now 6 months ago it started again. So my thought is there is not enough gas going into the engine when its idling anyone have other theroys cuz I can't afford to take it in right now...

especially if your dad did not take care of the car, sounds like he might have also used cheap oil which doen't help ethier, (not as many detergents in it, so stuff gets dirty easier, and most of the stuff in that IACV is going to be from the vapors of the cheap oil, then it attracts dirt, carbon, and such and then the IACV sticks

do you mean valvoline or castrol oil by regular oil (or any other quality oil) and not cheap shit like penzoil
also how can you already have driven 200K in your life when you are only 17???
