WTF IS up with my car ?!!

OK this isnt your typical oh crap my tranny is going thread

I usually throw my car into neutral at lights just because i think it saves gas (no comments lol) anyways today i did it and about 15 seconds later the car felt like its was choking for one second and then went back to normal

Then I went to downshift in SS mode, and it sorta had a little harder then usual (but nothing that would make me worried) transition.

Anyone have any ideas on what this is? I dont think it is the tranny but could be wrong

If it doesn't happen all of the time, it's a moot point. It could be a number of different issues or just a hiccop.

No...it definitely doesn't save gas if you throw your car in neutral everytime you come to a light...if anything, all you're damaging is the tranny since you're shifting needlessly into neutral and then back into D5 (I assume) everytime you come to a set of lights.

The only time I ever throw the car into neutral at a stop is when I was hard on the brakes, and suspect that they are hot. A brake pad on a very hot rotor = good chance of warping the rotors (creating a hot spot).

So in order to eliminate hot spots, I ease off the brake, and throw the car in neutral, that way I'm not sitting on the brakes.

My 99 did this once when going into first by stoplight.. result was tranny #3 dead, even if it drove normal after that. Talked to my buddy at the dealer and they replaced the tranny (had about 2k miles on it.. was the record, till tranny #4 died in 300 miles after install).
