Angry WTF: Attorney for Speeding Ticket in MD

SO I'm trying not to get any more points on my liscense. Do a google search and find a site that specializes in moving violations. Drilled down to my state (MD) county (Montgomery) and they pop out a name.

Dude called me back today. Now keep in mind this is a "simple" parking ticket (court not required, no other citations at the same time), for 80 in a 55. This guy says it's a flat fee of $1.000.00 . Damn near dropped the phone.

That seems rather high but I really don't have anything to compare it too. Is he trying to bend me over or is that what it costs?

Help out a poor white man avoid

Thanks,

Joe

I think that definitely is a lot... I had called did what you did on the internet and then also searched the phone book and called a few more places. I am in NYC so I cant be much of a help, sorry. I think usually most places charge $500 and maybe a few that charge $750 BUT $1000 is just TOO Much and they dont even charge that much here in NYC.

paid 280 dollars for my last speeding ticket (70 on 55) when i hired an attorney.

but this was at nj. so 280 for attorney, 102 for 15 mph over speed limit, and 33 dollar court fee.

hearing this from you and what you were charged, i guess i should feel alot better now. haha i was getting mad when i spent all that money for a lame ticket when all i was doing was following the flow of traffic. i just happened to be on the outer lane and with a flashier car. sucks sometimes when all the other cars around me are beaters.

he started off only at 350 and i asked if he can work a better deal with me.. and so he did. its just weird that it could cost so much for something that i didnt even think i needed an attorney for.

why not just goto court ur self? am i missing something here? I went to court my self, but unfortunetly the cop showed up, admited to wat happend, got rid of the points by the judge assigning me a driving course. Over here if the cops down show, ur ticket gets dropped, I went to take that chance cuz 50% of the time they dont show up. Wats so different if an attorney goes?

$1000 bucks is a lot for attorney fees for just a speeding ticket. Get a local newspaper and check the classifieds. Whenever I get a ticket I only have to pay my traffic attorney $75 to $100 per violation. $1000 bucks doesn't sound right at all...(possible scam??)
