Wrecked the TL over the weekend..

I was in a pretty bad accident over the weekend, luckily I am ok, but my poor TL took the worst for wear. The worst part about the whole situation is the guy who caused the accident hit and ran!

I get my car towed to the body shop tommorow, and the claims adjuster will give me an idea of the damage. The tow driver said he believes the car could be deemed a total loss due to the fact of the major front end damage.

Any of you guys gone through this? If your TL wasnt totaled, did it ever drive the same after the accident?

glad you came out of it OK...I got rear ended about 6 months ago...almost 8K of damage...I got sick when I saw her in the repair shop before the work started, but all's well that ends well...they did a great job and she rides and feels as good as new...collision guy says she's stronger than before the accident...it's amazing what a good repair shop can do sometimes...keep the faith...

Thanks alot for the encouragement. My main concern is that if they can fix it that it wont drive or feel the same.

Bummer about the car.

I absolutely hate that the notion has been pounded into peoples heads that a car will never be the same after an accident. If its repaired properly it will be every bit as good as it was before. Cars are designed to be repaired, and techs are trained to repair them.

Just got the update:
the insurance company called and said its totaled, he said the value of the car was approx. 10K, and the damage was a little over 10k. I asked about options, he said I can

1. have them pay off my lien, and walk away

or 2. ask if I can buy the car back for 2k, and have 8 of the 10k applied to what I owe.

Well, I'm glad you are ok

I guess you have to ask yourself if you buy it for 2k do you have the $ patience and time to fix it up? If not I would just take the 10k and put it on an 08 since the 09's SUCK!

Hey, sorry to hear about your car. at least you are okay. 99% your car will never be the same after repairs.

Of course, if repaired properly it will be the same as original, but no shop will repair it properly for you, unless you own the shop, do it your own, or watch every step your worker do it. It doesn't matter how much you are willing to pay for the repair, nobody will spend the extra time to fix it properly, even if you paid them extra time. Most shops can't even do any simple thing properly, lile oil change, air filter replace, oil level is not right, drain plug is not torqued right, filter is in wrong way, missing screws, missing push pins, leaving grease prints all over car paint, steeing wheel, sit, carmat, etc. that is just an example list, then how could any shop do a proper repair on a wrecked car. The first thing you will notice when you get a car back after repair is like you just bought a car from a junkyard; why? because if they fixed the hood, all they care is the hood, anything else is your problem, like dead battery, flat tires.

Sorry but this is all Bull Shit.
Maybe you were bit by a bad shop once but they arent all like that. Most preform their duties to top standards. Especially if you shop around to the better shops(and it doesnt always mean they are going to cost more).

There are still many places around that take pride in their work and reputation. I have a guy who's done several repairs on my family's cars and they have all been excellent repairs. He's got a small body shop in an unmarked building but does better work than half the shops in town for half the price.
