Would you like to race?
Can some one tell me if there are any rules or common courtesies to challenging some one to race on the road? I mean people who buy cars that can deliver such performance must have at least a bit of a competitive streak. How do you arose that in another driver with out coming across like some cocky high school ***hole? I have never really raced anyone before because I don’t know how to approach the situation, and apparently no one wants a piece of me. Please advise.
Welcome to the boards...
Hiya Nuse1,
Congrats on joining the ranks of the TL-S crowd. Enjoy your new vehicle. I may seem like an old man when I say this (actually 37), but I would guess that you are a little on the young side. Whatever the case may be, if you are out to race people, take it to the track. If you do get the desire to go at it on the road, please keep it out of the residential areas.
Okay folks...flame away...I have my fireproof suit on.
Have a lovely day.

It's not that no one wants a piece of you. They don't expect anything from you, because they look over and see a 4 door sedan. Your gonna have to provoke a race in the TL-S. I've only had one encounter in mine by a guy in a Mustang...typical. But I thought why not, I used to eat these for lunch all the time, and I wanted to see want my TL-S could do. We started kind of messed up because I was about a hood length a head when he decided to start his fly by. Well I punched it as he was passing me and he got about two maybe two and half cars in front of me before I let off. I thought it would have been closer because of the HP comparison but it was a lighter 5spd RWD so the odds were against me. All in all I never get confronted anymore, and I don't think I will either unless I start revving, and crap at some one.
If you do get the desire to go at it on the road, please keep it out of the residential areas.
No flame here. I have seen idiots fly through residential areas including mine and you just gotta wonder.
You never know when a child will run into the street. There are ways to enjoy your car and not risk people's lives.
Enjoy!
Mega Dittos on the Residential bit.
I love to race, but I get really hot over the time and place some people will do it. Especially residential streets.
In spite of how many personal races I've posted to date. I never race in residential areas. I don't do it in traffic where you have to whip in and out of cars or any other situation where my speed could cause me to lose it or risk hitting someone or worse.
I've passed on racing someone trying to coax me into a race because the stituation was too risky more times than I can count. And some of them I really wanted to just blow their doors off.
I just wish I was that smart when I was 18. :o

Some times, I wonder what those people are thinking. Why would I want to race 60 feet, and then half to slow down for traffic. Plus you don't know what others are gonna do. The last thing I need is someone wrecking my car.

Thanks for the input
It feels good to know that everyone is on the same page about the residential areas. Believe me I have had my share of jerk-offs and yahoos blazing down my street. I am lucky enought to live in Southern California where there is ample highway to play on. Thanks for the tips and the saftey input. Hope to see some of you on an empty freeway soon.

I like to pull up next to rednecks in pickup trucks and give them the finger. Then they get all bent out of shape and step on it and usually end up spinning their wheels for a couple seconds (no weight in the rear) while I blow them away!
Actually, I only got to do that once (and I didn't actually flip him off - he initiated it), but it's great to imagine the looks on their faces when they get their ass kicked by a piece of "Jap Crap" as they call it!
