Compare prices first (see www.curryacuracare.com), then decide.

i bought mine certified and still got the acura care. it was only 700 more. 100k bumper to bumper. i have already used to to fix my heated seat. an aftermarket waranty was a lot more. even tho my vin is outside the tranny issue range, i have CPO covering my butt on top of acuracare.

I got the extended warranty just because the car was 5 years old. After reviewing the warranty coverage, and having an understanding of owning an older car, AND knowing the costs of work + labor, I thought it was a good idea.

It's up to you, do you feel that it's necessary?

My opinions: don't buy it. You buy an Acura, it won't break down on you.

the tranny is under warranty.
I was offered the warranty also for 2500$ extra. I figured the only two things that go are covered. (tranny + mirror) and the rest will cost less than 2500 to fix on my own.

Second generation TLs have had serious transmission reliability issues that are well documented both in this forum and in Consumer Reports annual reliability surveys.

I bought my 03 TL from a Nissan dealer and paid $1800 for my warranty. It covered me for something like 60k miles (almost 100k on my odometer). Like any insurance, they're hoping you never need it. Given the TLs transmission problems, it was an easy sell for me.

I'm getting my money's worth. I've had two service jobs covered under it, and I'm slated to have a new transmission covered by it (if the damn transmission gets delivered before I rack up 8k more miles!!)

Be sure to read the contract first. I was disappointed to read mine didn't cover exhaust problems. Make sure you know what the deductable is (mine is $50) and what they cover (mine won't cover anything the factory will cover, so because of the overlap of warranties, they essentially didn't have to do crap for the first 10k miles or so.)

In anything automotive, your mileage may vary.

Looking at the previous posts, I definitely overpaid for something that really doesn't cover anything (2,395.00). My transmisson is covered under my VIN. I wish I never purchased this mess.

yes exactly, parts that are covered are NOT new. Most of the problems with the TL's are the Trannies, and they will cover a used one. Imagine that, a used Trannie. I didn't buy the warranty. things should not go bad with your TL if you keep it and drive it good. Only thing is the transmission and even that should last you a while unless ur racing, etc.
