Windshield Wiper Problem

I have a problem that my windshield wipers go to far and the blades hit the drivers side of the windshield and sometimes bump over it and get stuck with one blade sticking of the drivers side of my car. It seems to happen more when i am traveling at higher speeds or accelerating. Its almost as if the windshield wiper motors are two powerful and they are pushing the blades of the side of the window. any one have any thoughts on this problem?

This is pretty common actually. I saw it alot, and on many Honda & Acura models.

If there is a little bit of room between the wipers & cowl when the wipers are at rest, you should be able to remove the wiper nut (14 mm if I recall) and move the wiper down by 1 spline, then tighten them back up.

Hmmm..if you've tried adjusting the wiper arm itself (which should correct the problem) - are you sure you have the right size blades? If so, try getting some wiper 'wings' (right word?) to weigh them down a bit --- that will help keep them tight to the windshield at high speeds (reduces wind lift, etc). Or get wiper springs. Don't think the springs is the answer though.

Yeah I got this problem too, and it's only recently in the past couple of months. I'm getting my dealer to fix this problem when I take my TL in for my next maintenance interval. Which reminds me, I need to give them a call to book me in next week.

My '99 did this for a few months off and on. Eventually, it did it every time, standing still or moving. My mechanic replaced the entire motor assembly, including the gearing mechanism (because, of course, Acura doesn't sell the gearing w/o the motor!). In short, I would have it checked out, because mine did nothing but get worse and ended up scraping up the top of my driver's side A pillar.
