Windshield replacement question

because of some road construction in my area I got some small chips in my windshield, now those small chips have almost cracked across my entire windshield. my question is how do you find a shop you can trust, I my sister called a company and the guy came to her house, so I was considering using them. but I was hoping to get a little help from my friends here at acurazine

Thanks for the input I called the place that did my sisters car. They said that it would only cost me about 290-300 dollars for OEM glass for my 03 TL Type S, so I'm going with them and i'm also saving so money by going to their shop.

oe- aftermarket glass= a subject of much debate as both must pass DOT rules for glass

For those using $500 deductible for Glass in your comprehensive coverage- are screwing themself!!
with the glass costing half of that, the insurnance pays ZERO
and you have paid premiums that got you nothing--that was a great investment (not)

Change deduct to zero or 100 dollars for a slight premium increase...
at some point every car needs a front glass
Assuming driven on Earth~

well I just got my windshield replaced and i went with the aftermarket option. Cost me $170 its exactly what it was from the original which got stoned in the hwy. I dont see the difference when you tap on the glass it does sound sort of plasticy though but for 170 it gets the job done.

As my mechanic states they are all made in china nowadays and shipped here so why bother going with OEM and pay double? With all the constructions that are going on it going to get hit anyways and you may as well save the money and put it into the DVD/NAV touchscreen fund

dont bother with an acura nav- get a nice aftermarket head unit with nav screen

I recall some mention of plastic layers on the glass as part of its making
170 is a score deal! congrats

It helps if your best friend's brother owns a garage

Plus he treats me like his own younger brother so i get to nag him all the time when i want something done which most times are free or dirt cheap like paying for the part only hehe

Need to get mine done and found a spot in Houston that will do it for $115+tax INSTALLED. The only question I have now is some people on this forum have informed me of 'Acoustic' glass. Does the 2003 come with Acoustic glass?

Sorry for bringing up a dead thread, but I need this answered....

I believe OEM vs Aftermarket difference is the top portion tint. oem has perforated tint, where aftermarket is smoke tint, and no side smoke tints on aftermarket; correct me if I am wrong.
