Window Defroster...

Hey guys, I'm going for my driving test tomorrow, and one of the items that they'll be testing me on is the "Window Defroster" Can you guys tell me how to use this feature? I know its involved with the A/C... Also is there a rear window defroster?

well, there is a defroster button with a pic of a window and wiggly lines going up from it, should be for the rear. it's an electronic defroster using heat from those lines going across your rear window. for the front, yes it uses the a/c. it compress the air throughout the car from the top vents where the windshield is with the heater on.

^ :noob:

heh, na but i see what you're saying, but the TL is YOUR car, so you know it's features and whatever. The TL is not my car for 1, and I never use the window defroster and it's going to be an item on the driving test, hence why I asked.

Also wouldn't it be easier to just answer the question or ignore the thread, then to bitch and whine about something so trivial?

Alright your from LA....Ill give you that...You don't use the defroster on West Coast. But If you had driving experience and a couple cars you would have at least basic knowledge of buttons on every car dash.....Ohh and about the Noobie remark...Just because you have over 2K posts doesnt mean they are all intelligent questions and answers.... :ghey:

Alright, I'll help..

You'll notice on this Acura RL control panel there are 3 buttons to the right of the temperature display..

Recirculate, window defogger and the window defroster

The defogger blows air against the windshield.. preferably with the A/C on, it will prevent your windows from fogging up. The window DEFROSTER is for the rear glass and uses heated wires to melt ice off.

Its different on each car, but the symbols are usually similar if not the same. Another example is from this Saturn..

Hopefully that will explain things for you

Don't forget the side mirror defrost (heated side mirrors) function - you can find this on the driver's side next to the side mirror adjustment.
