I believe auto manufacturers sell cars that are legal in all 50 states, no matter where you buy them, so yes, your car should pass.

As long as you don't have any modification on your exhaust system, I don't see why you wouldn't pass the smog.

I have a 2000 you won't need to get it smogged for a while... When the Governator took office the first thing he did was give every one a registration refund and stated that new cars later than 1998, or something, aren't required to do so

yes, you will need a smog check to register the vehicle in CA regardless of year.
all Japanese manufactured vehicles are made 50 state legal. if you are not sure, check underneath the hood for emission certification.

even with modifications, such as an exhaust, the vehicle should still pass emissions unless the exhaust was not CA street legal to begin with.

bring insurance and a smog certificate for a vehicle check. no tint on front side windows !!

No, it is the police who will stop you and write a non-moving ticket. You must come back to show your car with tint off.

TLover8888,

by your name, let me guess...are you Chinese..??

anyways, you will need to bring the TL into a DMV office to get it registered in the state of CA. a DMV officer will inspect the vehicle for "CA state vehicle law compliance " before he will issue a license plate number. make sure your headlights are working, no tint on the front side windows. a can of soda can fit underneath your car. exhaust is not too loud.. etc.

if your vehicle does not pass smog inspection, you can pay a mechanic to "help you pass."

hope this helps..

Daggra105,

so, in CA only the state does the inspection of the vehicle and no one else? and for smog only, a private mechanic can take care of this? just need clarification on this point b/c in NY, you can take your car to a private mechanic for the yearly state inspection and they will "help you pass".

ps. yes, i am chinese

BlueTL,

i appreciate the offer and like i asked in my PM to you, where are you located?
