why you bought 2G over 3G

Is it due to budget constraints, personal preference or 3G wasn't out yet. 1 year after buying my car, I was regretting not having bought a 3G but now with black 3G wheels on it and with a lower stance, I like it much more than 3G TL. I do envy their interior, its much better than ours but exterior wise, 2G is a classy sex on wheels once lowered wit oem kit.

bc it was 1/4th the price at the time.

I grew to love my 2nd gen but with the time bomb of a transmission I'm glad I broke it off with her when I did.

all that car was missing was a 6MT

For me it was because at the time the 3G was still 7 grand more or something ridiculous. The way my 2G sits right now I'm quite pleased. I had all the 3G guys at the Edmonton meet a little envious. All I would want is their interior and headlight design.

i've always loved the 3g tl from the start but it was because of budget constraints that kept me from getting it. i also loved the body lines of the 2g and i fell in love with the type s model. but realistically thinking now.. i wish i would've just stuck with the premium model since it turned out i wasn't planning to get rims anyhow and speed was not what i cared about afterall (couldn't feel any from the tl-s anywhos).

but if you were to ask me if i would chose the 2g or 3g, i'd have to pick the 3g since there are simply less problems to deal with. the exterior is still nice and the interior is even nicer than the 2g's. the 2g is more of a classy luxury car without all the nice little things.

me and my friend debated this once... there's an illustration of a red Acura-like sedan in the car audio section of a local retail electronics store (Fry's) and it looks like a TL and a TSX at the same time. The problem is, the front bumper looks like some aftermarket one so we argued about it one day

I love my 2g 02TLS, especially since I've done a few things to it, but if I could have afforded even a used 3g, I would have got one. I think the exterior styling on the 3 g is newer & sharper looking.

know the family that was the original owners, and did all the body work on their cars. this car, never had an accident and all panels are original paint. rust free, and a reciept of every service record since October 2000. Price was right, and I had the money to pay for it without taking out a loan.

That, and since I was in HS i have always wanted one of them.

Couldnt be any happier with me decision!

I see some of you guys got really nice deals on ur cars. I bought my car in november of 2007 with 97K kms for 20Gs canadian tax in. I think I could have bought a 3G state wise with that money. But what I really missed as deal was a A-spec at my local Dealer for only 1700 more. The car had only 37K kms, the rear seat had never touched a human butt, smell of new car leather was present. It was showroom condition. I missed it by 2 days...

I couldn't afford the 3g (cash) at the time. Overall I like the 2G's better. 2G has more of an executive look to it.The biggest overall styling complaint one could have about 2G is that it looks like an accord. Yet, when I see a 3G TL I see a civic. When you see a lowered 2 rolling down the street its like "what kind of car is that?". Bodykit (oem) and it looks like a car someone had boated over from Japan personally.IMO. Never driven a 3G before but I bet it's fun as shit.

To me the 2nd gen has its own classic elegant long term look; where the 3rd gen style is more for the moving trend. IMO, The 3rd gen style will get outdated to the eyes quickly, and it does not look proper for certain group of folks, age wise. But, of course, new car is always better, I am missing the new car fragrant.

Budget,

I got my 03 in 09 for 8k which i thought was deal since it was a clean title and 67k whereas others were in worse condition with higher mileage(also salvaged) going for about 9k

I have not looked at the trunk space of the 3G, but my 2G trunk space is massive compared to the newer cars. None of my friends newer cars come close to my 2G trunk size.

It wasnt in my budget. the 3G was exactly 2.5X as much. I liked the look of it too, the 2G has a classier look and with some tasteful mods can look pretty mean.
But the 3G just has a Boy-Racer look to it.
(Plus the 2G TL had more features that any one of my friends cars, now they are all jelly)
