Question Why mod a perfectly good car ?

OK, all you big, dumb, gumba's out there. I want to know why all of you like my husband wants to waste a bunch of money changing a perfectly good car. Why change air intakes, wood on the dash (well that's not all bad), chrome oil covers and wire covers, fog lights. Not to mention the tail lights, etc. I just don't get it!!!

Why should you upgrade your Engagement ring with a set of baguette's on the side? Why put diamonds on the wedding band? You getting what I'm saying?

Why do women always ask that? My finace` always asks me why I want to add things to my car...

Why do some women get colored contacts even if they don't wear glasses? Why do they need soooo many "DIFFERENT" black shoes?
Think about it this way: How come women get upset when they see another woman with the same outfit that they have on or own?

Some guys, and I say some guys mod their cars to attract women. Wayne is probably not doing it for that reason, the same as me. He probably just wants a look/feel for the car that he can personalize to his own. Given that there may be similarities with others but not exactly the same as everyone out there.

for me, it's definitely to personalize it and to make it stand out from the 1000's (or so it seems) TL's in my town. I wanted a slightly different look and some better performance.

Also, I didn't do anything to the car until almost 14 months of owning it. Once I did my upgrades, it felt as though I was driving a brand new car while I only spend less than three thousand dollars total on it. Since I loved everything about my TL, the only other way I could've accomplished this would have been to get a 2002 Type-S. Even though my car is paid for, I still would have had to put out around $13,000 plus my car to get it. I think I made the right choice because I don't feel that dropping the extra $$$ on a new car would have made me any happier, plus it still wouldn't have been original (well, maybe for the first few months, but then it'd be pretty common again).

That's just why I did it, I'm sure everyone has different reasons.

Accessorizing for car fans (not just guys, mind you) is similar to what many women do for themselves. Many of us TL fans modify the car becuase although it is a damn good car stock, we like to personalize our cars with things that set us appart, or make us feel good, or go faster etc...the motivation is different, but it comes down to us really lovingour cars and taking the time to not only maintain them, but also do extra things.

The TL is a great car off the showroom floor, but there is room for imporvement for those of us who want it. But most people keep it stock...they also don't participate on the board much either.

And keep in mind, at least most of us are not trying to get into collecting cars...maybe except me
Hope that helps!
