Why isnt the TL smooth

My TL drive like a total POS. When ever I accelarate its really slow. It jolts through all the gears, and I am on my 3rd tranny. Then we have my roommate he has a 2003 Accord v6. He also drive his car like its stolen and floors it all the time. Last night he was drunk so I had to drive his car home. His car is a lot more faster and way smoother than the TL. My GF she also has 4 banger 03 accord and her car is pretty quick to.

My main concern is how slow the car is. I even took my JL W7 out my trunk and its been that way for the last month.

I'm thinking that it may be due to the '03 Accord being the new generation of the platform, whereas your 2nd gen TL is built on the new-for-98 Accord platform. I was really quite impressed with the '05 Accords I drove before I got the '04 TL, even the 4-cylinder was strong and smooth. The Honda salesperson kept telling me he didn't get any Navi-equipped cars in because they never sold. I would probably be in a '05 Accord Coupe if they had had one with Nav when I was in the buying mood, but instead the '04 TL (with the Navi YUM) showed up on the used lot down the street and was declared the winner of my dough.

Then again, I might be completely full of shiat as everyone keeps reminding me. It might just be a case of the grass being greener.

I'm not too impressed with the 7th gen Accord, as an owner of a V6 coupe. I know the TL's transmission isn't as smooth (drive-by-wire for the Accord helps, I've heard), but the TL seems just as strong (and is according to my controversial race between the two).

If you are not happy, why not mod for performance? For example, remove the intake resonator and have a K&N drop in filter as a start?

maybe you need to do some maintainence and get a few bolt on's. my car is fast and smooth, very good pull in powerband and i am on my original tranny at 113k, knock on wood. get some stuff checked out, maybe it's some little shit like air filter, plugs, oil and tires.

I think you need to do some maintenance on the car. An oil change...a transmission oil change might make it better. hopefully.

Under WOT, my transmission shifts a little harder then under normal acceleration. My car still pulls nicer than the accords, and I know how they drive, I work at Honda.

Am I the only one that hates drive by wire with a passion?

I understand it is the way of the future and it does have advantages, but to me it makes the driver seem less connected.

Disconnect your battery for a half hour then connect it back and drive your car hard.....by disconnecting the battery this will reset the ecu chip. you will need to drive it hard to let the ECU chip learn the new shift points.

mine use to shift through all the gears and only be at 40...now mine shifts from 20 to 45 to 65...and so on

TL's are JUNK. People admit these cars are shitty. Flimsy body, interior are cheap, and problems. I dunno how are other TLs holding up but mine sucks. 3rd tranny, warp rotors, broken motor mounts, inner cv joint went, door panels are falling apart, everything squeels, Etc. And I do pamper my car, always garage kept, park in the shade when its out.

MADE in the USA? or is it the parts that where made elsewhere??

Every car stocks up differently, you hope for the best finish for all of them, you may have gotten one that the employees just didn't fine tune it... Sorry to hear about it. I have a 2005 Honda Accord V6 - stupid roof liner fell off as I was driving away from the dealer - dealer turned around and just ordered me a different newer one. I guess it's like the transmission - shit happens sometimes it happens more to some than others.

Its a great car minus all the problems. I have never complain about this car until recently. The car isnt even old. My first car was a '91 Honda Accord SE. My parents bought that car new back in 1990 and was passed on to me from 98-01 no problem at all. IMO the accord had better interior than my tl. leather interior power everything, and even had ABS w/ front and read disc brake. got rid of at at 180,xxx miles and still ran perfect. Something my tl will never see.

I dunno those pics make my TL look like it is in good shape! My door panels haven't had those issues, but my dash and passenger airbag have been replaced, my transmission is dying, my entire Bose system (amp, equalizer, headunit, and all speakers) have had to be replaced, I've had my armrest latches and cupholder replaced, the rotors warped and were replaced, the steering column broke and was replaced (and the dumbass Nalley Acura didn't put the casing together right), the leather on the driver's seat had to be replaced due to excessive wear and the passenger one is the same way...

the 2003 accord v6s feel more powerful because they pack 240 horses, while a TLP only packs 225

you need to maybe do a throttle body clean, get a tuneup, add some headers and a intake, new tires? tire pressure good?

Also theres a new guy at the acura dealership and he was like "man I just pulled up all the warranty work on your car what have you been doing to it" Bitch thinks its my fault that all those problems happened. I could wrie a damn novel on the Tls problems. But its still a great car for the Money. My RSX has 49k on it and till this day its only had 2 warranty issues and they where taken care of and forgot. The TL just has to many to list.

You must have a lemon or something bad happened. Did you buy it used? I have a 1996 2.5TL, and my interior is perfect. Only problems I had were cracked C/V joints (once), D4 light burned out (dealer replaced for free), slow windows, and sometimes my stereo says CD-PE0 (common first gen problem). Besides some of the third gen guys that got lemons, most of them are okay. When I was shopping for a used car, all the second gens seemed okay too that I looked at (some with as many km as my car!). You're just unfortunate.

Nope brand new. Its only a lemon if the car has had the same problem 3 times and if it was a safety issue. We got a RSX a year later and still no problems
