Why do some cars go threw multiple tranny's?

Why do some cars go 100k+ with the original tranny and other cars have multiple replacements? I understand one failure, but wouldnt the "used" tranny that goes in next already have the additional oil spray kit?

Oil spray kit does not solve the other 3rd gear problem that causes most failures.

So why does Acura bother with the oil spray kit? From all the reading I have done I thought the gear was overheating or having to much friction, thus the extra oil sprayer.

the oil jet kit is to help the original reason the trannies got recalled. there is a new reason than they hopefully just fixed.

The purpose of oil jet is to lengthen the life of the broken tranny so that it won't break within the first 100k miles. After that milestone ... you are on your own !!!

I don't know. Why don't some people use the Search function or read existing threads where this question has already been answered? Quite a mystery.

The oil jet kit solved only one of the two problems. It wasn't until this past Feb that the replacement trannies were redesigned to solve the second problem.

It's great to know there are Search Nazi's over here too, makes it feel more like Honda-Tech.com. At least I didnt ask what CAI to use!!!

I have actually searched quite a bit, I must have missed that there were two different tranny issues, thanks for the explanation. Who would have thought that Honda would have screwed one part up so bad.

Yeah - the first 150 times we answered that question was enough. Maybe that's why we ask people to search first instead of giving the answer a 151st time.

No. The oil jet is to lubricate and cool the 2nd gear shaft so that it doesnt overheat and break. Its what teh recall was for. Its a very rare problem and to my knowledge no one here has had it.
It doesn nothing to extend the life of the tranny for the 3rd gear clutchpack problem that we all have
