Why do people de-badge the trunk?

Why wouldn't you want to have the "Type-S" thingy on the rear of the car?

Or am I way off here, and it's really something else?

1) a cleaner look
2) stealth...a well modded TLS can be a bit of a sleeper to the unsuspecting.

Ahh!

Then there's the other side...you don't have to worry about someone cracking yours off in a jealous fit of ricer rage. That way you'll only have to fix the key gouges and stolen HID's.

that is my first mod when i got the car, it is cleaner looking, you will love it even more when you wax your car, plus you don't have to worry about other people jacking it, in hawaii, people steal this kinda s#!t, back then they like the neuspeed sidemarkers, then is the integra "dohc vtec" so they can stick it on their civics, they even took my $15 white acura emblem, i got one back then is because i don't want to clean the inside of the original emblem knowing i will leave residue over time. i got a mugen emblem at home from the spoiler and i don't even bother, knowing some rice boy will take it away

My first reason was actually to prevent someone from stealing the Type-S badge and putting it on a Civic. I figure I'd remove it myself before someone comes along and scratches the sh|t out of my trunk trying to get it off. But, after I did it I realized how much cleaner and more balanced the trunk is with just the A and ACURA on the back....

that's my trunk debadged...now look at yours and you'll see that that top corners looks almost 'dirty'. Once it's removed it looks cleaner and classier. Gotta love the sleeper aspect of it too.

I just left the "A" on, looks much cleaner now. I actually had some guy pull up next to me asking what kind of Benz it was...go figure.

I debadged just the A-C-U-R-A letters only. It was much easier washing/waxing.

A little off-subject here, but your wheels and exhaust look great!

Type-S badges on anything but a Type-S are worth a pseudo-10 whp!

I wanted to ask the same question. Glad I searched first! I guess the back end does look cleaner without the Type S emblem. I'm leaving mine on though. When I see a TL I'm always looking to see if it has navi and/or S. I suspect there are very few modified TLS where I live (Madison WI).

I did it cause, IMO, the trunk looks cleaner without them. Not really for the sleeper look as it's not a 493hp TT E55.
