I have gathered from this thread that I should check the mounts for leakage. Any other problems that can be noticed/fixed before they get worse? Just want to get any repairs done before it's "mine."

No problems up until the idle started going wacky. My dad and I are going to clean up the idle control and intake and put in thermo block spacers this weekend.I have also heard much about "seafoam," which is supposed to make the car "like new," is that a good thing to do?
Seafoam is excellent and many members on this forum (including myself) swear by it.

I wonder if anyone remembers me. I joined January 2001 and bought among the first 2002 TL Type S's that rolled out in June of 2001. I took delivery with 3 miles and now have 162,000 miles. I'm still on original timing belt and will be replacing it within the next couple of weeks. I am still running on my original transmission. I had my front wheel bearing replaced and rotors resurfaced under warranty at 30k miles. Nothing else was ever done to the car other than Comptech Icebox & Headers I put in at 32k miles.

The car needs new spark plugs, timing belt, water pump, transmission and brake fluid replacement, and front and side motor mounts which recently gave out.

i now have 168k since the last time i posted

i have the front and side mountsa going out, and maybe having a ballast problem. my aftermarket rotors are warpped again, and i have a creaking noise coming from the front when i turn at full lock (bushing problem)

i dunno, thinking of taking care of the problems, then selling, in the 2.5 years ive had this car, ive had to invest at least 5k in parts and normal wear items.

2500-labor for tranny
1100-two sets of tires
350-front rotors and pads
800-new right side ballast
600-ac motor harness/transistor
115-new HID bulbs
700-pending-new mounts
150-pending-resurface rotors/new pads

just kinda expensive when im paying my own way through school.

idk, i think its truck time for me

Front and Side Motor Mounts-order them for about $150.00 Do it your self. It's easy.

158,700

2nd tranny at around 80,000. (1 month after I purchased the car yayyy!)
Timing belt and such done at 150,00 (I knew I should of changed the automatic adjuster
Cause its now making massive amounts of noise) soon to be changed.
Rotors warped 3 times since 78,000 (when I purchased the car)
Outer tie rods replaced at 156,000
Front and right side engine mount.
2 coil packs.
Income tax list:
Suspension starting to go. (Thank you Nj)
I'm pretty sure I need new axles and ball joints.
Muffler recently got loose so I gotta check that.
Recently had an exhaust code so I'm gonna check that out (I'm thinking front o2 sensor
So I'm gonna start there).
I'm pretty sure I need more done but I'm tired of typing

'99, just hit 185,000. Aside from the couple trannies, setf of rotors, shocks, the normal stuff you'd expect to see go bad after 11 years and that kind of mileage, Ive also done a steering rack, a rear main seal, and a starter.

Original owner, bought new 11/19/01, 207,200 miles.
I've replaced springs, shocks, rotors, brakes, rear swaybar endlinks (warranty), front and side motor mounts, battery, SRS passenger seat foam, wire fix to ac/heater blower motor $10, upper a-arms with new ball joints, lower ball joints, both front wheel bearings, one new hub due to bad wheel bearing grinding on it (I'm now an expert at doing front wheel bearings!), 3 tranny failures-fourth in car (I paid for the last one at Acura for a little over $2000, it's been in the car for about 70,000 miles).

Still has the second transmission currently with about 120k.

Runs WAY better than when new!

Can you elaborate on the heated seat? I had assumed the element was burned out, and that it would be a lot of labor to replace it.

As for the rotors, they are the original ones and probably need to be replaced. I'm just waiting for it to get worse before doing so.

Dealer replaced transmission due to recall (free).
Cleaned EGR ports myself last week.
Replaced bad front wheel bearing.
Very minimal other problems.
Best car I've ever owned, and will buy another TL

Reached 168k just a couple days ago.

Things that need to be done:
Timing belt replacement
Tranny and Brake fluid flush and replacement

So far most things seems to be running smoothly, I have a tranny problem where i hear something grinding when I'm in D5 and driving around city speeds (under 50) so I switch it to D4 and I have yet to hear the grinding noise, its been about a year since it started grinding maybe longer. Other than that everything on the car seems to run pretty smooth, and i would say im not easy on this car, I drive it hard occasionally.
