Or do you mean this thread (http://www.acura-tl.com/forums/showt...ght=dome+light) in the 3rd generation forum? That was the one that caught my eye and pointed to www.superbrightleds.com.

I was thinking of doing the mod as well.

Oh OK I didn't know someone in the 3rd gen forum did this too. I don't know if there is an LED replacement for the dome light in the 2nd gen cars but if there is, can LEDs do the "fade out" after you shut the door or will they just switch off? My dome light bulb is cylindrical with cone shaped ends for the electrical contacts. The bulb is 1.5" long. The old bulb I took out was made by Toshiba and says 12V7W. The POLARG replacement says 12V10W, and it's a hyper white not blue.

I've seen LED doom light for sale at a local speed shop. But they are not made by PIAA. It was some taiwanese brand. I'm sure once replaced it can do the fade too. The only reason I didn't do it yet is that I'm afriad it'll be too dark when I really need light inside the car

My understanding with LEDs is that they are either on or off (digital). The difference in brightness on cars with LED taillights is done by activating a few LEDs in the array when the parking lights are on and activating all of them when you hit the brakes. You can definitely see this in the Caddy Deville.

True. But correct me if I'm wrong, the dome circuit there is cap that supply power to the light when the doors are closed. When the cap depletes, it fades out. LED can do the same as I've seen LED does that on some of the boards I build

OK, here are the bulbs I used:

The POLARG B1 Hybrid hyper white dome light bulb is the M-28:

and the PIAA LED 168 white wedge bulb for the doors, map lights, trunk and license plate lights is the 19263:

Hope this helps!

Some guys please note: just after my tranny was replaced (with a new ECU too) this mod somehow caused the new ECU to go into a default mode. D5 light was flashing and all that. Limped back to the dealer, he scanned the car and found the problem. Unhooked by wires and it has been OK since.
