White Diamond Pearl - bumper color doesn't match...
We have a 2002 TL-S in White Diamond Pearl. The color of the rear bumper is a shade different from the rest of the car- more like a 'Smokers Teeth Diamond Pearl'. Anyone out there with the same problem? Did you get it fixed? Did they re-paint or replace it?
We haven't contacted the dealership just yet - wanted to get the inside scoop, if there is one, first in case I met some resistance from them, though I don't expect any.
Otherwise, this is an awesome car!!!!
Thanks,
Dan

Pheeew, i though i was the only one with this problem. But it seems to be a problem with a lot of the WDP's that i see on the lot and on the street. I'm sure if you make enough noise, the dealer will listen and paint it. But to get a dealer to paint anything or get anything painted is like pulling those smoker's teeth.

Same here. I noticed the bumpers have a more yellowish look at certain angles.
I'm not messing it with it yet. I've heard horror stories about matching the WDP and don't want to be a guinea pig for the paint shop. Repaints also devaluate a vehicle somewhat.
For now, I figure that "the devil that I know is safer than the devil that I don't."

I've noticed this on my car and my friend's as well. From certain angles it looks very yellowish... from others it looks like a perfect match. I just try to keep it as clean as possible... it always looks like a better match when it's freshly washed.
On a side note, my friend's WDP had to have a new front bumper installed due to accident damage and the paint match is VERY good, but the body shop manager did say that WDP was one of the hardest colors to match that's he's ever worked with.

This is most common problems for pearl white car.....
The bumper can't almost never be matched to the quarter panel...
If you re-paint the bumper ( not just rear...front too ) it can be match....however, it starts to fade out because of the heat ( I'll say...). Toyota & Lexus are worst... If you go to the dealer, and see it for yourself...Even brand new car has different color bumber(pearl white).. No solution....

Thanks for the replies.
I'm real afraid to have anyone touch this thing with paint. I'm going to live with it a little longer and then make my mind up about having it fixed or not. I just see it coming back worse somehow.
We had a '93 Integra that got into a wreck when it was about 4 months old. It was repaired by a good shop, the paint looked good when it was new (Sikkens - top shelf stuff...), but as time went by it was so obvious that it had been 'fixed'. This car ran 100% perfect after 130,000 miles but looked like s**t. I don't want my TL to turn out that way.
Of couse my wife had to have the white....
Thanks again.

I also have WDP and notice the same different shades depending on the angle. Frankly, I think that is one of the charms of the color - it looks a little different from each angle. Regarding the bumpers, I would also agree that, unless the difference in color is REALLY noticible, it would be worse to have them repainted. That definitely would affect the trade in value. BTW, I used to live near Pottstown. Where did you get your TL and how have they treated you?

Ditto on the Yellowish Bumpers!!
Bought my TL-S on 2 June and the front/rear bumpers have the same problem. Unfortunately, adding the prepainted WDP OEM body kit really makes the color difference stand-out. Especially on the front bumper, but even the plastic side rails up against the metal body show a color difference. Pretty poor Acura quality control for a +$30K car.

If you ask me the worst car that has this trait is the Audi A6. The rear bumber on this car is huge and it is much more apparent on silver ones. I walk by one twice a day on my way to/from work. This is not just an Acura problem
