Wheel Locks
Wheel Locks
Is there a universal wheel lock key that can open all wheel locks?
I ask this question because I took my car in for my 36k servicing today and part of the service was to rotate tires and service brakes. However, they never asked me for the wheel lock key. Therefore, did they do the service? How do I know if they did anything, like change oils, check brakes, rotate tires... etc???

Some theives use that socket with all the teeth inside. it works by filling in all the crevices or holes, thus in effect, it is a universal socket.
What i'd like to know is if full coverage insurance covers stolen aftermarket wheels/tires.

Usually Acura asks me to leave the key, which is located in the trunk. I would however suspect that Acura has a master key. All the wheel locks do, just like our alarm systems, is to send the thief to another car without these features. If they really want your car or rims, they will get them.
acura/honda dealer they have the master key. i think there are only like within 10 different keys, so it's not a problem for them. and yes, there are some universal keys too so basically thieves can just use them to steal any wheels, yours, lexus, etc...
most of the time they DO rotate your wheels, i did that couple of times and they did that no problem
for insurance, you NEED to check with them. i have done some research on these, and you always need to let your insuance know about aftermarket parts on your car. for example my tls has up to 2500 aftermarket parts insurance

unfortunately the wheel locks can easily be removed even without having a "key". I wont describe how its done because i wouldnt want to tip anyone off to it who doesnt already know how, but lets just say its very simple, low tech, and NO it doesnt require a blow torch or anything.
