Question Wheel lock

Ok, just wondering if all the wheel locks that acura sells have same pattern...

I mean it would make sense if they had slightly different patterns but then I would be D@mmed if it's not hte case....

since most of the parts that acura made are mass produced, even the wheel locks may have same patterns.

On the same note, do you guys think that the chip that's embedded into hte keys also have same codes???

I am just paranoid i gues..

If they are the same, that would eliminate the purpose of putting them on in the first place!

They are not the same. I went into the dealership for a service and I forgot my lock nut key and so they weren't able to rotate my tires, they obviously don't have a universal key!

How would you get your tire off if you lost your key?

Same way you'd get in your house if you lost your keys. Call a locksmith.

Are u serious, acura can't replace the lock? Each box has it's own serial number so i would imagine they could replace it. i might be wrong...

the chip in the keys are have different codes on each key, and also the wheel locks have different patterns i guess so you have to special order them also, should have gotten a number with your wheel locks in case you lose your bolt remover...

My dealership had a universal key and was able to remove my wheels. I picked the car up and was like, "how did you guys get the wheels off?!?" Kinda sucks...

Yes. Mine too. My dealer unlocked my tires off w/o giving them the wheel lock key. I think there are several different patterns but once you collect them all, you can unlock anyones wheels locks with a few trial-and-error.

I just read one of the forms that came with the wheel lock and it said that if it's emergency, acura dealer will be able to unlock it.

So I agree that there is a key that can unlock all of our TL wheels

The wheel locks are made by McGard. Whether or not there is a "master" key is not known. Someone at McGard might be able to help.
