i'm looking into possibly buying a tl but thinking twice since i know about the tranny problems.....i heard acura extend the warranty to 6yr/100,000mi on tl's tranny....is this true? just want to get more info before buying....

The 7yr./100k warranty is only on '00-'02s and some '03s. The tranny issue is mostly with the '02 models. Car comes with a factory 4 yr./50k warranty.

do you know if anybody have tranny failure on 99 ones? i was looking into getting a 99 thinking it also had the extended warranty....

Yes, I do believe some '99s have failed.

The 99's are also included in the warranty extension. This is a sticky in the AW.com forums:

1999 TL also inclued in 7yrs/100k Ext warranty for Trans

Your 1999 Acura TL is included in the Transmission Warranty Extension.

I suggest all 1999 TL owners check on there.

The 7yrs/100k extended Trans warranty has been extended to all 1999 TLs.

If you have to confirm this personally please contact Acura Customer Service or check owners link, since your dealer might still not have this information yet. Acura will sent out letters later this month.

well if everything goes well the next couple of days i'll be a new owner of a 99 tl in emerald green.....i guess my first two mods will be oem kit and rims....

remove the airbox resinator, strongly reccomended! it makes the car sound great and the best part is it's free
