What a nightmare!!
$1600 for all that is very reasonable from a dealer.

Yeah it is reasonable. But I won't be getting it fixed for a month or two now. I don't have the cash considering I have a payment on my car. So I'm just out of a car for a while.

Rob: Won't the transmission shed off metal and stuff during the break-in? And I should drain and fill after that period. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Best ask Acura themselves. I just drove it and forgot completely about any breaking in. I've never done that on a new car, so I thought nothing of it.
There was a different fluid in there, it was white with silver in it. About 5k after getting it replaced a quick change oil station tried to get me to replace my fluid because it wasn't red. I told them not to touch anything but the engine oil and haven't been back since. They wanted to put some noname brand tranny fluid in.

Hey guys,
I joined the dead tranny club last Saturday and wanted to get a few things straightened out for the tranny warranty questions. As for me, I have a 2000 TL with 111K. They are covering the hardware, but I have to pay for labor, $800. I had the Oil Jet kit installed back in 2004 and that did not change the warranty status.
Current warranty is 7 years, 9 months or 114,500 miles. Unfortunately I was passed the 7yrs 9m period.
Oil Jet was an optional recall that Acura would install to "prevent" the tranny from over heating.
If you get a replacement tranny, the warranty on that tranny is 3yrs/36k miles. Not sure if that is the status on a tranny that is replaced before the 7yr/114,500 miles recall. My tranny will be covered till I hit 147k or 3 years.
What they fixed in the failed tranny. The 2nd and 3rd gear were designed poorly and have been redesigned. The bearing was too small and failed over time, they gave it a bigger bearing.
Even though I have been given this information from the dealership, I don't know how good the remanufactured tranny's are. If any of you guys can tell me if the tranny's are any better, I appreciate it.

Well, I got my car back today and I must say... I FU***NG LOVE IT! Shifts like butter, runs through all the gears really quick. I'm not planning on WOT for a long while from now and the dealer recommended I do a drain and fill after the first 650 miles to remove any shed particles from the transmission oil. But overall, the transmission is great.
Green2000TL: If this is any help to you, I had a 99 Accord V6 Coupe before my TL-S, and I had a reman transmission in there for over 50k miles. Never had a single issue and I drove that car very very abusively. At the end of the day, still shifted like it was brand new. I'm not so sure about the TL transmissions since they are 5 speed but still happen to have the same issues the Accord transmissions did. Anyone else have any input on this?
