Question What Mods To Start With ???????

OK , I'm a novice at this. I need HELP !!!

1. Acceleration : I want to improve Acceleration and don't know what mods to add . Also , I'm on the conservative side so I don't want excessive noise and nothing that will void my standard warranty or make me bring in my TLS for constant tune ups .
Lighter wheels I understand will help. Any ideas on light wheels that will support a wider tire ?

2. Handling : Yes , I'd like to have it do a little better than .82 or whatever it does on the skid pad , stock. Once again , not a harsh ride since I will be driving it in the winter and my wife will be using it as well. We have a minivan for the kids though , so it won't be too often she needs to use it. Tires would be of interest since I don't know a tire that's better than the stock ones that will not be good for the winter. I mean , I don't want to switch just for the winter months , so I will need a tire that will double as a sport tire and an all season. The best compromise is what I'm looking for here. I guess wider would be better as well.

Really , I'm looking for engine mods , wheels , tires and sways/springs that will be somewhat aggressive but not too aggressive for Chicago Driving.

Any ideas ?

..1 word.....Header! Most bang for the buck you will get, and it wont make you car any louder as long as you use the stock exhaust. As far as handling, tires, sways and springs in that order.

BTW - My comptech header goes on Thursday morning.....

This topic comes up a lot, but everyone's needs are different. If you're using the TL-S as a daily driver in all weather conditions, I would stick with the OEM all-season tires, throw on the headers, and go with sways rather than springs.

Talking

I will agree on the headers.......32hp at the wheels. Of course that's only at one point in the RPM range.....the majority of the RPM range is only -2hp to 4hp.

I would get sway bars.....they will NOT change your ride confort and the make a big difference on handling. Springs make your car handle better and look better, also improve noise dive when braking .

Everything you need....look at my signature

Id go with Headers for the engine as the biggest bang for your buck($1000+install), and Sways($299 + install; many have done the install themselves) for the suspension.

Cool

Sways will give you the most for your money. There is a definite advantage in the handling. Headers cost too much for what they give you in a limited band of RPM. Better tires would be next after sways.

..after driving my car today and tonight with the new header...I must most respectfully disagree.... The "limited" part of the rpm band is right where you want it...up around 7000 rpm. Believe me...you will notice a BIG difference with the headers! If your leanings are more towards improving handling, then by all means, look at the sways and springs....but for power increase, the headers will do wonders....

No, but to make sure they don't blame anything on you then get it install by the dealer.

No Problem. .......see when my cat when bad they ask me if I had performance headers, but I didn't. They will try to blame anything they can on you. Plus if you have headers the only thing they could blame you for, has to be releated to the particular aftermarket part and has to be proved that in fact it was cause by the aftermarket part(headers). For example if you get headers then your A/C stops working or tranny breaks....they have to cover that under warranty, because is not releated to the headers get it.

Actually, I think a broken tranny would be a thorny issue. They could try to claim that the increased power from the headers caused undue stress on the tranny.

Since I live in South Florida, and most of the roads are straight -- I am considering a new header as my first MOD. Hence, I have three questions: (1) which brand; (2) how much to purchase and install; and (3) where do i go to get it done?

Your suggestions are appreciated

what's up bro. I would say purchase it at www.autocarparts.com or click on exhausts on top below the Type S gauge on this site or check my signature . Go to Rick Case acura and talk to Doug he is the service manager there or mike the best service rep there. Good luck.

1000 for headers is crazy. I've had all types of headers for all kinds of cars, these got to be some of the most costly!!

I know about the price of the headers! Teg's can get them for a couple of hundred dollars from numerous manufacturers. Anyway, the Comptech's are supposed to be very nice!

HP is what you want at the high end of the rpm range. Torque is what you want in the low to mid rpm range. Only getting 4 hp in other places in the power band is fine if you're getting increases in torque, which is Comptech's claim.

Yeah but ussually headers give you 6-10 horses when the comptech gives you 32hp at the wheels.

No one else makes headers for our cars at this moment.
