Thumbs down What the hell happen to the TL?

I saw the 04 TL today on the road. It lacked all the style and has no identity. What are the people at Acura thinking?

Re: What the hell happen to the TL?

I will say that the front end looks good. The side and back looks like ass though. Looked like a new Camery if you ask me. Even the front looks very typical of Acura.

It may be expensive now but weren't ours when they first came out? Won't the price go down fairly soon?

My buddy just got a 04TL and I LOVE the gadgets in there. Dual temperature control, voice recognition, bigger Navi screen, 5.1 sound system to name a few. Oh, it now has the computer that calculates the average MPG and current MPG.

I don't doubt the inside is cool. Acura is good about that. But the outside is just too plain.

Heck, one thing I cannot understand why this feature that costs pennies on the dollar is/was not implemented a LONG time ago.

The 88 325i I used to drive had it and then some. but it was not a new feature to that year... It had been around for a while already.

I used it ALL THE TIME. Not like it was a useless gadget.

I still think the 04's grill and front facia assemply looks like it came from the Odyssey's parts bin. The sides look WAYYYYY too much like a BMW with that groove extending from front to back. The European turn signals on the front fenders might save Acura money for not having two part numbers for two different fenders, one for Europe and one for US guise but that's something I just kinda tolerated when I drove my girlfriend's Saab 900S.

The interior gadgetry is cool but I think I like my 03' TL-S better.

I think the new TL is a very attractive car and very eye catching. There is one thing I didnt understand I think its cost cutting on Acuras part but I noticed that the headlights are now a combo of Halogen Bulbs and HID. The smallest bulb being HID and the biggest being Halogen. Whats up with that? Considering HID came standard on all TL's why make the new TL a combo of Halogen and HID.

I dont like that!!!

TL-S still looks better to me the 04 TL front looks more like a Pontiac and the rear is somewhat eye catching but still plain. One thing that really killed me about the 04 TL is the power, adding just 10HP that is garbage I can careless about interior if its nice its nice is not going to make my car go faster.

If I remember correctly the 04 TL have dual HIDs (low and high). As a matter of fact, most or majority of luxury cars have HIDs for low and halogen for highs.

BTW, starting in 99, all TLs came standard with HIDs for lows and halogens for high. So for 04, HIDs are lows and highs.

Oh and the 04 is growing on me. And the interior is off the hook!!!:wow:

I thought they had dual HIDs as well.

Personally I like the 04TL very much. I think the styling is more aggressive and the the interior blows most Lux cars out of the water. What I don't like too much is the rear. Rather than all red they should have stayed with the red/clear combo similar to the 02/03 TLs and 03 CL.

unfotunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it) its not worth trading up for right now. maybe when they drop AWD and 300+ hp then it will be (I know I say this all the time). Then boosting that sucker will be one fun a$$ project!

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the 1990 Acura Legend LS had this. I always wondered why Acura dropped it. Another thing I remember is that the 1991 Acura Legend had a power telescoping steering wheel. The new TL doesn't have one.

Are you sure the new TL doesn't have telescoping? I thought it did.
