Question What is Dash Blanking Plug Covering Up?

On my 02 TL Type-S to the left of the steering column, there is a black plug filling a hole directly to the right of the dash lighting potentiometer. It appears to be exactly the same size as the potentiometer switch itself. What is the purpose for this additional hole? Is it used for a dealer installed option of some sort or a feature on some export market cars outside of North America?

I notice a blanking plug in the passanger's side door pocket where the trunk release button would have to be installed in the RH drive version (Inspire?) but they likely have an entirely different dash. Maybe this mystery hole is where 007 has the ejection seat button...
