Okay, so I've never posted or I don't remember ever posting so here goes:
I hadn't driven my TLS since Thursday, 22nd of May because I was out of town in DC for the long weekend. It was sitting outside in my driveway for 4 days. I started it up today and it sounded a little weak since it hadn't run in a while so I gave it a little rev to about 2500 RPM. Here's where it gets hairy. I only revved it for a quick second but then my engine started revving itself. With my feet no where near the pedals, the tach was jumping from 1000 to 2500 by itself for about 10 seconds (at the time I turned the ignition off when the oscillation hit its low point at 1000). Very perplexed, I started the car again. It was okay and then I revved it again to 2000 RPM. This time it stayed at 2000 and would not go back down. I turned the car off again. Next I waited a minute and started again. Didn't touch the gas while in park and just shifted into reverse and then the car was okay.
Can anyone figure this phenomenon out? I'm not really that worried or anything because I've driven all day on it and nothing seems wrong, but just a little confused that a car can do that.

this should not be anything to worry about. When you first turn the car on for the first couple of minutes the rev will be high.. After a little bit, the RPM will drop back down to its normal ~800 idle speed.

it wasn't like that though, its never sat that high before and the first time I turned the car on, it jumped up and down and up and down by itself as if my foot were pushing the gas pedal and lifting up and repeating like a drummer might do and very quickly. the following smiley face looks like the needle on my tach

Gremlins...
It's definitely an anomaly... whether or not it's anything to worry about will depend upon if it ever occurs again. I've left my car in the garage for a week at a time, and it's never acted up like that?
It sounds like you have the right attitude about it. Don't get worried unless it does it again, then I'd take it to the dealer... except it probably won't do it for them@#$%^&

My 2k TL, which will be 3 years old June 16th, did this ONCE, maybe 1 1/2 to 2 years ago. I started it up, had it bounce a round a lil between ~750 and ~2000 rpms. After like 10 seconds it stopped and never happened again. No clue what happened, but near 2 years later, it's obviously normal.

yep. normally the car will idle a little high to warm it up, then it goes down to the normal 600-800rpm range. this is weird cause it could actually mean there is something wrong w/the computer since it can control throttle response like this. just keep an eye on it, but dont hesitate to take it in if it happens again.
