This morning when I started my car, it cranked but didn't turn on. Then, a second later, the engine just jumped to 1500 rpm's like normal... Does anyone know why this happened? The starter stopped for about a second where nothing happened and then it started. This seems odd...

actually, i have a similar experience. sometimes i would start the car but wouldn't it wouldn't start, so i wait for a bit, then turn the key again. it sounds and feels like it started, then nothing happens, then it starts up and keeps running. however, when it starts, there's a lot clank sound, sounds like a misfire or something. this has happened to me twice already. anyone else have similiar problem?

 

sounds like both you guys need to visit your local "friendly" Acura dealer ....

 

A similar thing happened to me.
I went to start it, it turned over but never fired.
After a bunch of cranking It I decided it would be best to leave it.
Took it to the dealer and they kept it over night.
They started the next morning no problem. It started fine after that.
My dad and I investigated the problem, which was not mechanical but just some build up on the battery. The corrosive parts started oozing out and build-up formed on the terminal. I sprayed some cleaner on it and the problem has yet to come back.
This might not be in your case but check your battery for build-up.

 

What year is your TL???

I already went in for the recall. My car doesn't start onthe second crank. If I worded it wrong, I am sorry. What I was saying is on the first crank, after it cranks, there is a second delay where it is quiet. Then, after that second, the engine starts without the starter. Wierd huh?
