Exclamation Weird, my AC...

Man its gettin pretty hot and Ive been crankin the AC in my car, no doubt that $hit cools a hott boy like me off ... Na forreal, it does work good... Heres the weird thing, when I set it on say 60, it'll stay that reading on the screen, and then it'll go to 20, WTF??? It does it all the time, I'm thinkin maybe its centigrade, but I dont know if that's even right, isnt the conversion like (9/5)*60/273??? Who cares its still f^cked up because I cant turn off the AC when it says 20, I have to play with that goofy lookin knob and then push the off button... Anyone have this problem???

Question

This happened to me this morning!! I started my car and it was flickering from 65 to 20. And when it was on 20, the fan was blowing as if it was on auto. This has happened to me 3 times that I can remember.

That happened to me too. Try to replicate it by doing this: Turn your fan speed all the way down to the lowest setting (one notch above Auto). Then, in one second intervals, notch up the fan speed one notch at a time. By the third notch I think, you should get the temperature to display "20", the fan should blow hard, and sometimes the recirculation button will turn on as well. I don't think it matters whether it's on auto mode or manual, or a/c or not. Try tinkering with it until you can get it to do it consistently. Then show it to the dealer so that they can get your a/c unit replaced. That's what I did, and no problems since. Actually, I spent all this time coming up with a way to replicate the problem, and when I got to the dealer with the service manager looking over my shoulder, I couldn't get it to replicate for the life of me! Go figure. They trusted me on it anyway, and they actually replaced mine with a unit off of a brand new car off the lot because they said it would take time to order it! Wow, talk about service... Needless to say, I go only to this dealer now. They sold me pretty hard.
I also got the lifetime oil-change deal for $120. Suburban Acura in Farmington Hills MI is the dealer. Anyway, hope this helps, and let me know if the above instructions work.

There's a procedure for troubleshooting problems with the A/C system which involves holding both the AUTO and OFF buttons for several seconds. Certain segments of the 2 digit temperature will display and, using the service manual, you can diagnose any problems. I'll post the actual procedure and table of codes this evening when I get home.

same thing happened to me, usually when i turn it to around 65, the a/c goes to 20, but after toggling between the a/c and off buttons, i fixed it, still happens every once and a while, and if that crap happens again, i'm taking it back to my dealership to get it fixed! But usually i find 65 a lil too cold, so it doesn't bother me much, i usually leave it on between 70-75. We'll see how hot this summer is in NYC

yes, the display changed to 20 for me too. I was just driving around with the settings on 60, and fan speed on like 2..... then all the sudden it starts blowing cold and hard and I look and it changed to 20... it was wierd indeed.

Question

Does this only happen on non-navi models? I tried to get mine to do this but it won't. But I have the navi.

I have had my car for 2 years and I have never seen that happen. I'll try to see if I can make it happen but it sounds odd to me.

Here is a thought which I know would not cause the problem but it would be cool to see if all you guys have the ULEV sticker on your engine.

That would be really strange.

Hey fellas, I posted this one last week. I had mine set on 68 and it jumped to 20 and I couldn't cut it off but it hasn't happened since, but my air continues to blow snow balls. I have a 01 TL non-navi.
