Question Warped rotor question about restoration

I have 3 rotors I'd like to sell... How much could I expect to pay to get them fixed/resurfaced/smoothed out or whatever? Then I'll sell them to someone for cheaper than they would have to pay the stealorship.

How much will it cost to get them to good condition? If anyone wants them I'll sell them at a good price...

I have 2 front oem rotors and 1 rear oem rotor : o )

you can get some front rotors at autozone for 62 dollars per rotor, I think it would cost more to get them remachined. The rear rotors look like they wil run 52 per rotor of course these are just blanks not slotted or drilled.

resurfacing these rotors is about $10 each. but since you know the oem rotors are bad at prematurely warpped in less than 10k miles. So, if you are planning to sell them, just sell them as is and let the new buyer do the surfacing.

Are the autozone replacements any good? I'm tired of having to get rotors resurfaced every 20k miles, but I don't want to pay an arm and a leg for rotors either.

I'ev bought the Autozone ones and mine have about 25K-27K miles on them and they now need resurfacing. Must be something with the other brake hardware to make this warpage recur so often. I pay $6 to have each rotor resurfaced.

I wouldn't even bother trying to sell used rotors.

If you still really want to sell them, I would say let it all go for for the whole thing $20, local pickup. New buyer roughly pay $20 for re-surfacing. or just give it away if you don't need them. Normally, new buyer would spend some money for a decent set of front rotors so they don't have go through re-surfacing the rotors again and again. and normally you can only resurface once. so buying used rotors is not worth it in a sense.

The old rotors are more than likely totally worthless. I had the OEM rotors on my car and they warped. I took them to PEP Boys to have them turned. One they wouldn't turn beecause to get the warp out of it would require more cutting than is allowed by law (or whatever the code they use to decide to turn it or not).

The important thing to remember however is that even if they wold have turned my rotors (and not just one of them) then really i would have not been doing myself any favors. Turning takes off metal. Less metal means less heat absorption is possible. Less heat absorption possible means faster temperature changes of the rotor which means.... you guessed it... warped rotors again.

The after market rotors I bought (new) have more metal in them and hence are less apt to warp than the OEM ones. Not to mention the after market ones have angled fins which are better for keeping the brakes cool (supposedly by some stuff I read). The after markets were about $65 a peice (best i remeber it has been a while) and I have put 20k miles on them and they are flawless. Braking is a dream now where it was embarassing before.

Conclusion: Throw the old rotors away and get new ones. You will just be passing problems on to the next person if you sell them and for the $20 you could maybe get out of them it aint worth the headache.

Talking Yeppers

I got the rotora slotted and the satisfied pro ceramic pads and I'm done with that little project : o )

They are quiet and little to no brake dust compared to oem's
