Warning to all AEM Bypass valve owners!!!

Personally I think the valve is a waste since its only off benefit if you submerge your filter, and why would anyone drive into water that high?? Anyway, its also poorly built, and dangerous.

I agree 100% with you Mr Hyde. There has been so many arguement over the bypass that I stop voicing my option. All I get is "better safe then sorry". Basically the cheap ass plastic crap bypass isn't the solution to the hydrolocking problem. If you're worry about it, get an ice box.

ive dirven the CAI for MANY years now and agree! if you drive into water that deap that you submerge the filter completly you shouldnt be driving.you would need over a foot of water to do so. normal puddles and standing water wont affect the engine

I probably wouldn't have bought the bypass valve, but I bought a CAI with it already on. Is there anything I can do? I live in the desert so it's not like I need it Just use a rubber hose to connect the metal instead?

is there a pre-made piece of rubber hose or silicon hose out there to slip in it's place or will any 4 inch (not sure on the diameter) rubber hose with clamps do? when i bought my tl-s used last month it allready had the AEM CAI with bypass installed. but now i plan on removing it.

I bought a 3 inch pvc hose from homedepot when I removed my broken bypass on my type S. It didn't fit right b/c its really 3.25 inches since pvc pipe is thick. I just cut the bypass valve ends off and put the hose over them to make it fit right.

waste of money...also, AEM's build quality has gone down the drain. it's not what it used to be.
they need to step up on quality control...

I live in Vancouver BC the winter is our rainy season and the air bypass valve for me was a great investment. I have driven through water that had washed over my hood and nothing happend to my engine. Mind you I do not seek out deep water like these but when it rains constently there are flash floods and you have no chioce but drive through the water. I agree if you live somewhere that does not rain alot or has excellent flood drainage like LA, CA then the air bypass valve is a waste of money. But, for me in my area it saved me from having to replace my engine.
