Question Volumetric Efficiency?????

So I have SEVERAL scan tools at my disposal, two scanners a bluetooth ELM327 and a USB ELM327, I use OBDwiz, ScanXL Pro, Torque (My Favorite).... So my question is on every one of these tools it has a "Volumetric Efficiency" input that defaults at 85%, The only mod on my 2003 TL-S is a TB coolant bypass and an Injen CAI. How exactly do I figure this number for my car as everything i've found on google is talking about using a Mass Airflow sensor.... Well problem is our cars wont give a reading from some sensors. And if i'm not mistaken is it that one or the MAP sensor that we don't have?

we don't have mass airflow system, different type throttle body iirc
but I could be wrong- surely 3.2 will be along for my monthly ball busting~

whats wiki define volumetric efficiency as??
and have you seafoamed to remove carbon buildup and leftover crud from ethanol added gas? efficiency requires clean surfaces for max combustion, clean valves for good sealing and fuel swirling as it enters the chamber

^ You are correct we have a MAP sensor instead of the old MAF.

Without having a MAF to help get a general idea of flow, its going to be really hard to get that figure. About the only other way to do it is to know the CFM/flow rate of the head. Typically our heads stock will flow in the upper 280s, and heads that have porting and polishing have seen over 330 cfm. You could do the calculations with the generalization numbers to get an idea.

Yeah i think i'll use the estimate numbers, and yes just seafoamed EVERYTHING multiple times, gas, oil, removed and cleaned intake manifold, seafoam through vacuum line..... should be pretty squeaky clean, i'm gonna use torque as it seems to somehow show air flow, but like i said the general numbers are my go to as that reading could be false unless its close to your numbers. I have an Injen CAI and TB bypass mod, havent gotten to the doing the mod for the other butterfly yet so still showing 100F intake temp, the mechanic that replaced my trans a few months ago just capped these coolant ports on the throttle body and looking at how the go into the thermostat housing (or whatever that part of the engine is called, where the coolant comes from) I really don't see that it matters if its capped or had a fitting to let it circulate..... am I wrong here?

And on another note, sorry slightly off topic. What is your opinion on the best obdII scanning software, I have 2 readers, an ELM327 Mini that's bluetooth and an OBDLink SX, For software i have Torque, ScanXL Professional, Scanmaster although it's been buggy and i'm kinda new to it, OBDwiz, and a Windows Phone 8 app called OBD Auto Doctor which shows the basics.... Which of these do yall think is the best.... Haven't been using Torque that long either as I didn't have an Android platform until recently but it seems to read ALOT more from our cars than other programs, ScanXL Pro is pretty close though.

I use Torque pro 99% of the time, along with a few other actual live data OBD scan tools.

One of the first few lines in the article state that volumetric efficiency is never at 100% given losses friction, leaks and more. Also dashcommand is pretty cool. Has more features than torque depending on the dashboard you use. Mine has realtime fuel efficiency data and gear shift sensors and is a little cooler since there are nicer themes available
