Valvoline makes 5W-20

I when to a parts store yesterday expecting to buy 5W-30 b/c lots of people said that its near impossible to find 5w-20...

I guess I got lucky b/c I stumbled across Valvoline who makes
5w-20... ended up getting a case at about 1.75 per bottle...

Just thought I would tell anyone searching... haven't seen anyone list Valvoline as one of the companies that makes this oil...

Exclamation

Is it synthetic? I don't think the problem was finding 5w20, I think it was finding 5w-20 in synthetic. I know I haven't found any synthetic in that weight, but regular oil hasn't been a problem. Thanks for thr heads up though!!

I assume that's a non-synthetic variety. I couldn't find it on their site.

Ok, so the 5w-20 list is now:

Non-Synthetic:
Mobil Drive Clean(Not Mobil1)
Havoline
Pennzoil
Quaker State
Castrol GTX
Valvoline ? (Not on web site but has been sighted)
Superflo (Exxon)
Chevron Supreme
Conoco
Phillips 66
Citgo Supergard

Synthetic:
Amsoil
Redline (Streetable formula not listed on web-site but confirmed)

No shortage of 5w-20 out there, unless you are looking for a common off-the-shelf synthetic.

I believe the dealers use "regular" oil, I don't see them spending the money on synthetic for every oil change they do.

Hey Rockin'..... great list!! Since 5w-20 is so hard to find in synthetic form, I'll probably use 5w-30 Mobil1 synthetic......

A number of company's may make the regular 5W-20, but I haven't found many stores out here that carry it yet, actually more don't than do. And its never the one anyone advertises as being on sale...

That's true. You just might have to plan your changes in advance or know where you can get the oil in advance. I have seen the Pennzoil, Havoline, Quaker State and Exxon 5W-20 at the local AutoZone or Pep Boys.

I actually use the Mobil1 5W-30 myself. I don't have any problem paying the extra few dollars for the syn. The M1 5W-30 comes in a 5 quart jug for $17.88 at WalMart. That and a $5 filter from the dealer & I'm all set.
