Valve hitting each other?

I was driving one night and it was pretty late at night so it was pretty quiet so while I was driving I heard this ticking sound I figured its my intake vibrating and hitting the chassis.......Then I got home popped open the hood and that ticking sound was coming from where the engine is so I'm guessing the valve heads are touching? what's going on does warranty cover this crap?

valves dont hit each other. Was it coming from the drivers side towards the firewall?

I popped open the hood and it sounded like it was coming from the engine I figured it might be from the timing belt so I put my ear by there and no sounds emitted so the sound is coming from where the valve, pistons, crankshaft would be....I'm sure i can just take in n they can't charge me any how since I'm under warranty rite?

Could it be valve lash? I'm trying to think if the TL has hydraulic or mechanical lifters.

My NSX needs periodic adjustment, but going back to my old Hot Rod days, "Happiness is a flat tappet!"

The TL has no lifters, its an OHC. You just have the cam, the rocker arm and the valve.

Well sound can be deciving. Next time you hear it listen by the drivers side firewall to see if you hear it there. There is a purge control solonoid that is notorious for making a ticking noise that people often think is valves.
If you are under warranty and you think its not normal, bring it in. Thats what warranty is for

McClaren,

True that about the TL not having lifters. But there are several OHC engines that do.

There is an adjustment screw for the lash on the rocker arm, and if out of adjustment, gives that "Lifter" sound.

But it seems that fsttyms1 may have something else in mind.
