Vacuum Oil Change

I just ordered a Topsider to use for oil changes on my Mercedes and wonder if it will work on my 2002 TL? The Topsider sucks oil out through the dipstick tube and is the recommended method on our Mercedes. The dealers actually use the vacuum approach. This is particularly useful on our Mercedes because you can replace the filter from above, so there is no need to put the car on ramps. On the Acura I think I will still need to use the ramps to change the filter, but will I be able to get the oil out the dipstick tube? The manufacturer's website mentions that on some cars there is somthing blocking access to the oil so you can't slide the tube all the way down, and I wasn't sure if the Acura was like this.

Acura has a blocking plate- sorry

You can reach the oil filter by turning the wheels to the right, and access the filter thru that opening- its easy.
Ramp or jack very helpful for this operation, and having leverage to get the right torque- 29 foot pounds- on the oil drain plug.

I haven't changed the oil since the drop a few weeks ago, but I rarely used ramps to drain the oil or change filter prior.

Nah man, "go - go gadget arms!" I will be on ramps to ramps also now probably - or use the floor jack to put it on ramps. I haven't had to figure this out just yet.

what ever happened to just jacking up the car and putting it on jack stands to change your oil? I'll only take 30 mins for the whole process. With a lowpro jack (you can find them at walmart for $68), there's no need to run the car past the ramps and messup anything (god forbid) and you can easily get what you want to get out and just lower the car again. They go as low as 3" off the ground up to 19 and 21" depening on which ones you buy. Basically, an SUV jack for lowered cars. Used it on kris' car, works wonders.
