V-6 Altima showdown?
Spec-wise it don't look good. Power-to-weight ratio on the Altima is much higher than our TL-p, but worse yet the TL-s even falls a bit short in comparison. It also doesn't help that the Altima's are equipped with 5-speed manuals.
The whole top portion of the dash is in HARD PLASTIC... and plastic (hard) parts are all over the place.... the seats are comfy though....
Also, you can turn on foglights w/out Low-Beam... which is good..... but that's pretty much about it.... :p

I recently test drove the new Altima 3.5 with a 5 speed. I'm no expert, however, the car has a boat load of torque and the curb weight is around 3,2000 lbs (240 hp & 246 lb of torque). There's simply no way that automatics cars with curb weight in the 3,550 lb. category with 225-260 hp and 216 to 232 lb ft of torque will stay with this car. Do the math, compare the power to weight ratio and you'll see that the TLP & TLS can't win.
As stated though, unless you opt for the dark interior the hard plastic material is a downer. However, that's why you can get a 3.5 for close to $20,000....you lose presteige and you'll see one on every corner in about 6 - 12 months.

i've posted a simalar rebuptle in the other topic on the max...horsepower to wieght ratio requires one more element, data for which at this tim is unavailable "area under the curve" this is how long hp/lb.ft. are sustained
in laymans terms imagine if you had a 100hp shot of nos...but you spray it just a .50 sec before your car redlines...your hp/just went up 100 and your torque just went up ,but, for how long?the max may have 246lb.ft but how long does it sustain that level???the cl-S/tl-S have a long flat 232 ...conducive to power over a braod range

So no one has had a chance to drag a Altima SE yet?
Specs are one thing, and I agree with many of your comments, but transmission set up and a whole bunch of other variables can affect real world performance. I like to see just how fast these new 3.5 Altimas are in the real world.
