Do you turn your headlights on automatically when starting your car both day and night?
I seem to and am wondering how many others do the same?
I am also wondering how this will affect the life of my ballasts, bulbs etc.
I'd personally rather spend the money on the car in other ways than repairs.

i just keep the lights in the on position. they turn off after 30 seconds anyways and it's pretty nifty at night when your car lights up so you can see it.
I love the look of the 6k HIDs against the back of cars and stuff and this way people can see your car and are less prone to careless daytime accidents as well

Lights ON for Safety!!!
give the other person as much time to figure out you are a car coming at them as possible--most drivers are not paying attention past their windshield
my laguna green is more an asphalt grey... making it nearly invisable on many roads!
that has its good points too,,but if I want to be seen-its lights on
The bulbs are getting ready to go out now on most gen2s, they lose brightness and change color with age. Pink or purple tint at startup is bulb death warning
probably half or more of us already on replacement bulbs
and a trend is starting of freaky ballast/ignitor failures,,,
full new aftermarket kit: 2 ballast 2 ignitor 2 quality bulbs for under 100 dollars- hidextra or hidconcepts are members here. thats money well spent and one of the cheapest repairs/mods to the car
Fresh lights make it like daytime on moonless night,, and will probably save your life, or at least avoid a general crash someday

According to a 2008 study from the US NHTSA, daytime running lights have no effect on the number of daytime passenger car collisions. They showed a slight effect with collisions involving pedestrians/bicyclists, light trucks, and vans.
DRLs were first introduced during the 70's in countries like Sweden and Finland where winter days are very dark. There, they have a huge effect in reducing daytime crashes.
With that said, I run my fog lights during the day. You can never be too cautious of all the bad drivers out there.

Same here, Fog Light Mod = Aftermarket DRLs but I turn them off before starting the car.
I never start my car with the HIDs On it will kill the Ballast if you overdoit.

NHTSA- like I believe anything the govt has to say~
daytime running lights help!!- real headlights in daytime help even more
but they didnt look for that,,,--just drl crashes
I can see cars with even -basic DRL- way earlier than other cars on the road
`basic` being factory ones that use about 30% of normal brightness
a car with blue lows and lowered coming at me,,probably another ziner!!
why do you think motorcycles use daytime high beam--to get attention of the inattentive,,and its legal!!
